pay as you go
I found out about you guys at FOWA Dublin, an event organised by Ryan Carson of Carsonified.
Anyway, we will soon be launching an subscripription based service developed in Ruby on Rails. However, one of our payment models is pay-as-you-go. So for each customer, what they pay is different each month depending on how much they use our service.
Is pay as you go supported?

We don't yet, but it is in our list for the future. We're staying focused on time-based subscriptions for the time being since there's plenty of improvements still to make there, but as we continue to flesh it out we're definitely looking to start serving the pay-as-you-go market.
One thing we will have soon is the ability to add one-off fees to ongoing subscriptions, so if you could charge a small fixed fee and then add usage charges on top of that, we'd be able to support you in the near future.
I hope this helps explain, and my apologies we're not quite ready for you yet.
I’m excited

Do you know when you will have this 'one-off fees' functionality will be available? -
Inappropriate?I can't give you an exact date, but I can tell you that it's at the top of our list right now.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?I was just wondering how progress was going with the one off fee functionality? I really can't wait much longer and am afriad that I will have to look for something else. Which is a shame, because Spreedly looks to be very cool.
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?Nozza I totally understand if you need to look elsewhere - you need to do what's best for your business, and we're not there for you yet. All I can tell you at this point is that we're working on one-off fees right now, and will roll out support as soon as it's ready. Ideally this will be in the next few weeks, but forecasting is difficult with a big feature like this.
Thanks for checking in, and apologies that we're not there for you yet.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I'm looking for essentially the same thing. iTunes-style payments: deposit $10, it runs your account down only for what you use.
Possible?
I’m hopeful
-
Inappropriate? We won't support pre-payment for awhile, but we will support iTunes' exact model: record a set of charges and charge after the fact for them as a group. Will that work for your purposes?

Inappropriate? What's the status on adding one-off fees to subscriptions?
-
Inappropriate? It's in progress, but it's also a big task. Our goal is to roll out the initial rev of adding one-off fees onto subscriptions by year's end.
-
Inappropriate?Glad the hear this is still on the radar. We need to charge for variable usage (ex: $1/GB/month) and one-time fees (ex: purchase of a premium Theme) in addition to the normal base subscription amount.
It sounds like your planned feature will accomplish this. Looking forward to it.
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Nathaniel,
what's the status on this? it's something else i'd quite like for our service.
I’m concerned
-
Inappropriate? We've made some progress, but not as much as we'd like. Internally, we've determined that this is the most important "big" feature we're currently working on. We know it's quite important to many folks and we're extremely motivated to get this one done. We've also established some plans to help accelerate its implementation.
We're thinking that we should have it knocked by years end. I hope this helps to give you a better idea of where we are on it.
I’m wishing it could be completed today

Inappropriate? Thanks for the update. Obviously it's important for us to know timing as it affects how we implement business models
I’m hopeful
