CSR Quotes Price, Confirms, Applies, then Retracts

This evening what should have been a simple chat with a Sprint CSR ended up with this little writeup after 2 hours or CSR hell, all of which I have in a chat log that is posted in it's entirety below.

The chat started out with simple confirmations about our plan and usage, then when I asked about Sprint's new "Everything" plan, that's where things got ugly. The CSR quoted me a price of $89.99 for the first line, and $84.99 for the second. Knowing that I saw the commercials for $99.00 I asked her to confirm that price again, and she did. I then asked her to sign us up. During this process she informed me that once I switched plans there was no going back due to the fact that they no longer offer our plan. I said that was fine and she went ahead making changes, during which time she informed me that she quoted me the wrong price. Now I can't go back to my old plan, and I don't get the price that they quoted me on the new plan so I am stuck paying for the original price "Everything" plan.

There is nothing I hate more then a company giving me inaccurate information about their own products and or services, and despite my best efforts to cover myself I still end up with the short end of the stick. Once I got to the point of letting the CSR's supervisor know that I would be posting this to GetSatisfaction he quickly wanted to end the chat session.

The part in question is that starting around 6:49:10 PM dealing with the "Everything" plan.

6:53:30 PM Sheena There are three Simply Everything Plans. One with unlimited minutes, the others are 450 minutes and 900 minutes. There is not a Family Version, each line would be separate however the first line is $89.99, the second $84.99 and so on with a $5.00 discount on each line.

    Lol! Alright, I am not going to say anything about the chat because they pretty much did everything wrong ;)

    Now as for the plan, I'm guessing you are on a family plan as you asked about that in the chat.

    There is no unlimited Minutes Family plan, though no surprise the only company that offers it is T-mobile at this time and at a very expensive rate.

    We do have a family plan however,
    $129.99 you share 1500 minutes, and ALL Lines have Unlimited Web, Text, video messaging, Picture mail, GPS, E-mail, Sprint TV, Sprint Radio.

    the $129 includes two lines, add a line for this plan is $20.00

    If you need more minutes, $169.99 and you get 3000 shared minutes, again add a line is $20, and the $169.99 includes two lines.

    Now if you only have TWO lines, it may be worth it to just get the Simply everything $99 plan for both lines. Like that sales rep said, The first line $99, and the second line after that is $94.99.

    The plan she was talking about, there is indeed a $89.99 Unlimited plan, but all you get is minutes and texting, and yes the next line is $84.99.

    the $99 gives you everything unlimited, what is not included in these plans are
    Phone as a Modem
    Insurance.

    Phone as a Modem cost $20 extra per line for THESE PLANS unlimited web plans(including the Family ones mentioned above) Other plans its $40 per line for phone as a modem I believe, this may have changed though.

    Insurance is $7 a month, and here's where we have problems in the stores. Customers refuse to get the insurance, even though you tell them if you don't have it you pay the RETAIL Price to replace the phone if required, rather than just paying $50 to replace it. They always say "Nah its just a $20 phone"...but I have had a few customers come in 2-3 months later saying I lost my phone. And Yes they had to pay the Retail which was $169.99 for that phone, and the sad thing is, they didn't learn their lesson, they still didn't get insurance.

    7 x 12 = $84

    by the time you are able to upgrade again, yes you would have paid $186 dollars in insurance, but think about it, the CHEAPEST retail is $169, if you got a half way decent phone the retail price is atleast $299.

    I recommend getting insurance, its only $7, sure if you look at it at a WHOLE years worth it's a lot, but same thing with anything else, you eat a hamburger each week, if somebody says thats 130,000 CALORIES a year, you aren't going to stop eating it, because thats in one year, and ya... I just recommend it, Especially for PDA's.

    Anyways, what plan were you on before? Do you know the name of it?

    I have a similiar problem with Sprint quoting one thing and then going back on what they quoted. I called (I believe it was Dec. 19th) Sprint prior to agreeing to a contract for a wireless data card to check on prices and see if any discount was available for United Employees. At that time I was told by the representative that I would qualify for a 20% monthly discount on my Data Access Connection Card Plan, which would be subtracted from the 59.99 monthly price that he quoted me. I confirmed this with him several times, prior to agreeing to sign up for the sprint data plan. He said that I would need to fax in proof of employment to receive the discount and gave me the fax number to send the proof to--which I did. I received my first bill and noticed that there was no discount applied. I emailed sprint alerting them to this fact and was told that since I only had a data access plan I did not qualify for the discount. I then called sprint (on Jan. 9, 2009) and finally talked to someone who told me that she would correct the problem and get me the discount, however, just as she was finalizing things, they dropped the call. I called back and was told that I was ineligible for any discount. I then emailed sprint again and was told the same thing. I have an issue with the fact that I was quoted and agreed to one price plan and then after the fact am being charged a different rate. I also agreed to a two year contract with sprint, if I were to break that contract, they would charge me to get out of it. In addition to me living up to my part of the agreement, there is an expectation that they also live up to the part of the agreement that they quoted me and that I agreed to when setting up my account with them. I won't even get into the horrible customer service I've encountered with all of this.
