Qucikpull Pro stopped working on Bold 9700 AT&T after OS 602 Upgrade

Mike,

Tried all the steps. Removed App, Reinstalled, Verify all permissions ect ect.
QPP still not working. Does not reboot on schedule. Hangs at splash screen stating it's going to reboot.

Both on your forums as weel as others, this appears to be a general issue. Is Stellthorn coming out with a fix?

Thank you
Guy

After updateing OS to AT&T 602 fr0m 405 I am now unable to use QuickPull Pro. Looking forward for a response and fix from Steelthorn

Hello there, Sometimes permissions get messed up when upgrading from an old version. Please follow the steps in this FAQ (http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...) to verify that the permissions are set correctly. If this does not fix the problem, please uninstall and reinstall QuickPull. This should take care of the problem, but if it doesn't, please let me know by creating a new thread on the main page of this support forum. Thank you for using Steelthorn Software, I look forward to hearing back from you. ( Delete or Edit)

Hello. If you could, please follow this FAQ (http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...) to send us your log files. Be sure to do this right after running QuickPull so that the correct data is captured. Once you have the logs, please post them in this thread. Unfortunately, this issue requires further investigation by our development team and the logs would be of great help to us in figuring out what is causing the problem. I apologize for the inconvenience and hope to find a solution to this issue as soon as possible. Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you

    Good morning Mike,
I removed QPP from my Bold 9700 yesterday due to the issues I was having with the app. Since my BB is my lifeline I did not want to take any chances.

I will attempt to re-install over the weekend and then paste the log files here.

Thank you for your qucik response. Has your engineering team found anything with ths other users who are having similar issues?

Hello again. We're still investigating what is causing this issue. We've been having trouble reproducing the problem in our testing so the going has been slow. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful but I hope to have more info for you soon.

one other piece i've noticed...the dialogue to reset now or later (with 5 attempts) pops up later...after you've cancelled the quickpull dialogue. eventually it gets to attempt 5 and just resets the device.

I just wanted to verify, are you guys all running version 4.0.4 of QuickPull? I forget that not everyone upgrades right away, I apologize for assuming. If you aren't already running the latest version of QuickPull, grab it here (http://getquickpull.com/). Also, for 9700, if you're interested you can try the newest OS which can be found here (http://forums.crackberry.com/f146/new... ). At the very least, this will help us determine whether or not the issue is specific to the current build of the OS you are using, and it might just get QuickPull working, as well.

Once you have the latest version of QuickPull, run the app and press Menu -> Verify Permissions. Please let me know if any of this helps the problem. Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi Mike,
I have just completed a clean install of 4.0.4. Set schedule. At precise time I get the screen "Your device is going to reboot in 5 seconds.... About 20 seconds later the black box of "reboot Now...Reboot later" appears. The "Reboot Later" is the one that is highlighted by default. About 15 seconds after that the scrren "Your device is going to reboot in 5 seconds.." appears again and then just sits and hangs at that point (I let is stay on that screen for 10 minutes until I finally hit escape)

Hello again. I'm sorry to hear that upgrading to 4.0.4 didn't fix the problem. I'm still awaiting more info from our development team on what is causing this issue on certain builds of OS 5. Are you still running build 602 of OS 5? It is possible that the current build of OS 5 you're using doesn't like QuickPull for some reason. If you'd like, you can try upgrading to build 743 by following the link in my previous post, Let me know if you're running 743 and whether or not QuickPull works on it. Thank you and I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi Mike,
Yes I am still running OS 602 since this is the latest Official released OS from AT&T. Due to the fact that I am a BES Administrator for a large corporation, I need to remain on AT&T's releases. I assume that all Bold 9700's purchased from AT&T will have/or will have this release. Looking forward to an update from your development team.

Hello, Guy. If you could, please run QuickPull and press Menu -> Verify Permissions. Even on a clean install, doing this is sometimes necessary to get the app to function. Let me know if this helps. Also, as you are a BES Admin, I take it you are aware of any permissions restrictions that your BES might have. Are there any restrictions on your server that could be interfering with QuickPull? Thank you an I look forward to hearing back from you.

    Hi Mike,
Yes I have tried multiple times resetting permissions...on a clean install. Always verified but still did not work.
Regarding BES restrictions, this device (Bold 9700/OS 602) I am using is not on my BES environment and never has been, strictly using BIS.

Have you seen or heard any success stories with QPP and the AT&T 602 OS?

    Thanks,
    Guy

Hello, again. So far we've only had one other person contact us who is experiencing trouble with QuickPull on .602, but unfortunately I do not know the total number of people using the app with that build of the OS. Our analytics only capture the type of phone a user has, but not their OS version. I assume there are people using QuickPull successfully with OS 5 build .602, but I have no way of knowing for sure. I will post more info here when I hear from our development team. Thank you for your patience in this matter, I hope to have a solution to this issue as soon as possible.

I upgraded my AT&T BB9700 to .602 and my quickpull stopped working just like Guy's did. I verify all permissions. The only way I was able to get it to work on my BB was to downgrade the OS to .405, I am running quickpull 4.0.4. Hope you fix this soon.

    Thanks,
    Chris

I'm having the problem too. I tried everything listed here and quickpull pro still didn't work. I downgraded to .405 and it works now.....hope this is fixed soon. I won't stay on that OS for long, since OS 6 is due up for my device....

Hello again, Guy. We're still trying to uncover the cause of this issue. So far the only workaround we've found is to roll-back to an earlier build of OS 5. I'm sorry I can't be more helpful and will update this thread with more information as soon as it becomes available.

This will somewhat of a test for QP support. It appears, regardless of what the users have said regarding the AT&T 602 update, "Mike" simply replies with his standard response. Here goes nothing

    1) I have verified all my permissions -- They are correct
    2) I have tried completly uninstalling QP -- This does not work either
    3) My logs show the same thing as all the other users

    a QuickPull - Reset required: true - 8/26 21:26:53
a QuickPull - Delete status code: OK Module marked for deletion - 8/26 21:26:53
    a QuickPull - Alt handle: 13292 - 8/26 21:26:53
    a QuickPull - pid: 254 - 8/26 21:26:44
a QuickPull - Found previously existing stub. Attempting to use it. - 8/26 21:26:44

    4) Other users on forums have the same issue - tinyurl.com/36bmdye
    5) Reboot functionality provided by PBTaskManager works just fine in 602
    6) QP has defects, support needs to fix them, the exception is called out clearly, not sure why this is being drawn out so long.

I am eager to see if Mike responds back telling me to check my permissions.

Hello. I ask people to verify that permissions are set correctly when it is not indicated by their post whether they have already done so. Because the permissions can easily get messed up when upgrading the app, we like to remove that possibility first to make sure it's not something simple causing the problem. As for why this issue is being "drawn out", we follow the same procedure for gathering data from all of our users. It may seem obvious to you that all the logs look the same, but how would we know if we did not ask?

We have determined that there is a bug with the .602 build of OS5 that we don't seem able to fix although we are still working with RIM on it to hopefully find a solution. At this point, the simplest work around if you still wish to use QuickPull is to upgrade to the 732 build of OS5 if your carrier has adopted it, or downgrade to the build you used just before .602. I am very sorry that this matter has not been concluded to your satisfaction and apologize for any inconvenience you have experienced. I hope you continue to use Steelthorn applications in the future and am sorry I could not be more helpful.

Just a quick FYI....I have installed Quick Launch 3.2 on my Bold 9700 and the scheduled reboot utility within the application works with the AT&T .602 build.

"We have determined that there is a bug with the .602 build of OS5 that we don't seem able to fix although we are still working with RIM on it to hopefully find a solution."

There is no bug in OS5, the bug is within QuickPull

Many other applications - As stated above, including PBTask Manager, Quick Launch 3.X have implemented this functionality with no trouble.

    Please fix your software.
