QuickPull and OS 5.0.0.434+

Hello OS 5.0.0.434+ users

QuickPull currently has issues with the newest OS 5 update as you may know. This is due to a bug in the OS and we are working RIM to resolve it. Until this issue is resolved, the only solution is to downgrade to a lower OS 5 version. Sorry for the inconvenience.

When do you anticipate a fix? How can we find out when you do have one for the Curve 8530? Thanks

    Hi all,

I forgot to cross post this from another thread:

    Hi there,

This is a known issue on OS 5.0.0.434+.

RIM has fixed this in newer builds (namely 5.0.0.711+), but those are not yet officially released for any devices yet. Keep an eye on this thread for any future updates. The best solution is to either avoid upgrade to 434-710 builds or upgrade to builds 711+ when they become available. There is no way for us to work around this problem on the above builds.

Hope this helps clears up the status of this problem.

It will probably be YEARS before Verizon ever provides another OS upgrade (they were the last to upgrade to 5.0 with build .591. Does this mean we are stuck without the software we paid for until our carrier(s) upgrade to .711+ or are is Steelthorn working to fix this for builds 5=434-710?

    Hi Larry,

We would love to fix the issue on those builds not only to make our users happy but also because it is actually costing us revenue. Unfortunately, all the information we have today tells us there is nothing we can do to make it work on these builds. The bug affects a critical aspect of how QuickPull operates. RIM is aware of the issue now, and has fixed the issue, but in the 711+ builds. They won't go back and re-release existing builds with the fix.

I know Verizon can be slow with the upgrades. There are two possible alternative solutions to waiting for an official upgrade. One is to wait for a leak and upgrade to that which would likely be much sooner. Second, we do have over 2 million QuickPull users. If we could rally enough support we could present the case to Verizon or RIM to do something atypical to resolve these issues.

    Zaventh,

If you'll post somewhere what "unified action" you'd like your users to perform, I'm sure many would do it. Pushing on RIM will likely not solve the issue...Verizon is the problem. If their users make enough noise they "might" let out another version, but having used a BB for 12 years with VZW I am not holding my breath :-( They simply could care less because they have nothing to gain by accommodating this. The actual numbers of VZW users who have QuickPull installed might not be all that large, even though you have a large user base.
