Quickpull not working with OS 5.0
Installed both free and pro versions (3.6) of Quickpull on 9530 after Verizon officially released 5.0. Neither one works.

Hi everyone.
As part of our ongoing commitment to QuickPull, we have just released QuickPull Beta2 (aka. "PlzPlzPlzWork" build) for OS 5.0! If you have not been able to get QP working for OS 5.0, I invite you to try again and post your results. We'd specifically love to hear from BES users. Please follow the updated instructions here (uninstall first!):

Hi all. Here is the situation:
The current Storm OS release (5.0.0.328) is currently bugged with the "Trusted Application bug", although it may be considered a "feature" at this point.. This will cause QuickPull to popup a "Trusted Application" dialog every time it runs, and subsequently fail. We are working with RIM on this issue, but we don't have anything definitive yet. The bottom line is this:
We will do everything in our power to get QuickPull to work correctly on OS 5.0. However, until an OS change is made, the solution is more of a workaround.
The steps here WILL work provided you follow step 2 closely and you are not associated with a BES:
http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
What else can you do to help? Simply star this thread or click the "I have this problem too" button at the top of the page. This way we can let RIM know that a lot of people out there really want to use QuickPull. -
Jonathan, Greggory, Aimee,
Did you happen to uninstall your old version of QuickPull before installing the new version?
If not. please try going to Options > Advanced > Applications on your device. Scroll down to QuickPull in the list, then press the Menu key and select Delete. Remove and replace your battery.
Then please re-install via the FAQ: http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
After install don't forget:
1. Go to Options > Applications
2. Press Menu > "Edit Default Permissions"
3. Set all three categories to "Allow"
4. Menu > Save
5. Do another real battery pull.

It acts like it wants to work, even asks if I want to add it to the trusted list. Then fails.

2Hi there,
Please make sure you meet the prerequisites for this BETA release (No association with a BES) and follow the instructions listed in the QuickPull OS 5 FAQ regarding permissions: http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...
PERMISSIONS
QuickPull will request certain permissions on first run. Due to limitations in the current OS 5 releases, you must set additional permissions in order to use QuickPull on OS 5 at this time. Perform the following steps in order to correct this problem:
1. Go to Options > Applications
2. Press Menu > "Edit Default Permissions"
3. Set all three categories to "Allow"
4. Menu > Save
5. Do a real battery pull.-
Hi,
I am not associated with a BES. However, I am a bit concerned about Editing Default Permissions. W that ill give all programs I install on my Storm the permission we want only QuickPull to have correct? Won't changing default permissions create a security risk? Thanks! -

I did everyhting mentioned above and can't get it to work. i have tried 6 different times to uninstall.reinstall and get the same results. Errors out.

Stu - right now those permissions are required to run QuickPull for OS 5 Technical Preview (Beta). If you aren't comfortable changing those permissions you may want to wait for a future version.
Jonathan, could you please post the exact error message you receive? -

We have things working on our Storm with OS 5.0.0.328 here.-
Yes I did uninstall the old version before installing the new version.

Would it have anything to do with the free version vs the pay version? As I am using the free version.

-
Yes I did uninstall the previous version prior to installing the new one.

-
-
-
I am also having this issue. Error starting quickpull.lib. I cannot change permission for "reset security timer" under interactions.
-
-
I just did everything you said to do step by step and I get the same error. Error starting quickpull.lib. All my permissions are set correctly. Oh well.. Back to reg batt pulls
-
-
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the application. I followed your instructions exactly. I continue to get the same error message.
-
-
I have done everything as stated and get a message "something went wrong. Aborting. see device log for more details
-
-
I finally got it to work. I think what I was doing wrong was going to "Edit Permissions" instead of "Edit Default Permissions". "Edit Default Permissions" is below "Edit Permissions". I hope this will help others. I apologize for my ignorance.

Thank you for the update Aimee.
If you can not change any of the permissions listed, your device may be managed by a Blackberry Enterprise Server with an IT policy disallowing those permissions to be changed.
If you meet the prerequisites and carefully follow the steps in this article: http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V... QuickPull should work for you.
If you continue to have an issue, please copy and paste your device logs here using the instructions in this article: http://faq.steelthorn.com/index.php?V...

I have done this to my Storm, version .328, followed everything as it said to, works great!!! Don't know what I did differently than everyone else.
I made sure I went to the link provided on my phone's browser, downloaded it. Once completed I DID NOT have it run as it asks, RUN or EXIT. As soon as it was done, I immidiately went into the options as stated in the posted link on this post. Once I changed the permissions, I pulled the battery and it worked just fine once it rebooted -

Hi. Are you using a Storm with OS 5.0.0.328? You can follow these (although somewhat painful) steps to grab the logs after running a QuickPull. The more information we have at our disposal the better.

Hi Zaveth. Do you have any suggestions for users who cannot change the security timer reset permission? I am not on Enterprise Server or any other server. Just an individual user. I know all of this must be as frustrating for you as it is for us.

I am running 5.0.0.328 I loadad 3.6 followed the instructions. Loaded fine but I do not have a launcher icon.
-
I've been through the whole delete the old version, install the new version, set permissions, and pull the battery thing about six times now. After each battery pull the application is deleted from my device (I did see the icon on my main screen before the battery pull). I do find in my Downloads folder an icon associated with the older version. When I open this it installs the old version and I repeat the process again...I too am running 5.0.0.328 on a Storm.

Still have the problem here after setting all of the permissions to "Allow" on Storm 5.0.0.328

Uninstalled QPP Installed Beta QPP Changed permissions Pulled battery...pain with my otter box case and still have error. Not using BES
-
-
I got it to work with one other modification to the permissions.
Options>Applications>Quick Pull>Modules>QuickPullMonitor set all permissions to allow. Do the same for Quickpull and Quickpulllibrary in the modules area. Then do a batt pull. Then try QuickPull. Something I didn't know on the version 3.6.0 is that you click RESET at the top of the screen for it to run. -
-
Okay, I finally was able to restore the ability to change permissions for "Security Timer Reset". I found a tool JL_Cmder that has the ability to reset the permissions back to "factory" condition. I then could set all QuickPull permissions to "Allow". QuickPull Pro now works well.
-
-
I've tried the workarounds, and still no luck. I am on BES, is that what's keeping me from doing the Security Timer Reset or are there other issues with BES?
-
-
Mark, I am not on a BES but for me Security Timer Reset was the one and only thing that was getting in my way. Once I got that fixed, it works fine. From what I gather, people on BES will need to work with their company's IT department to get all of QuickPull's permissions to "Allow".

I’ve followed every thing like you all have discussed. I finally have gotten to the point of "reboot now - reboot later" just before quickpull pro is supposed to reset. I have to quickly hit the reboot now button....if I dont..bad things happen and I have to do a hard reset to fix it. Am I missing a simple step?

I have tried the new download for 5.0 as well as version 3.6 but cannot get past an error message saying that quick pull has encountered a problem and to consult the device log.

Hello,
I have not found a way to get QP Pro to reset when scheduled like with the past versions.
I have a Storm (9530) with 5.0/328 OS, the QP Pro version is 3.6, which is scheduled to reset at 0536 daily.
When I awaken it appears that it did not reset as it has in the past versions.
I normally plug in my device into my USB sync cable for over night charging.
With this version I am able to reset manually choose to.
All permissions are set to ALLOW, and as I shared I can manually reset my devise at any time.
Could you please advise as to what I need to do?
Thanks

It seems as though a lot of us have this issue. We all like QP but it does not work with this new 5.0 release. I would like to here from Steelhorn if they are working on this to find a solution also does anybody know if there is a similar program available from someone else that does work?
-
I have seen several postings from employees working on QPP. I am sure they are stressed and as 3rd party software vendors, many of the problems could be within the base BB build. Our feedback is helping them and I am sure they are doing their best to resolve the issues. However, it appears that the BB V5 is killing many other apps as well so it is just not QPP. The base code for BB has changed and caused many headaches for 3rd party vendors. I personally will wait for Steelhorn's next release. Remember what Windows Vista did to 3rd party software? BB needs to learn and work closer with outside vendors then this will not happen.
Continue to provide feedback. This is the best method to help the developers resolve all the issues. Remember, this is beta code only. -

I have run through the "new" process a few times. Although I can get it to reboot - it does not work as in the past - pre-5.0. I have a Storm 1 with 5.0 that used QP before and only had the problem after 5.0. I am also on a BES. Comments - I CANNOT reset all 3 to Allow - In the INTERACTION area it is listed as Custom - with the Security Timer Request grayed out to a DENY response - no way for me to change.
When I now click on QP - I get a note indicated QP is requesting changes to its applicaton control permissions. I click on View and see the Security Timer reset category - can't change so I hit escape - only Save choice does something -- next screen needs a click on RESET button ... Will reboot in 5 seconds... will reboot now/later - nothing done reboots by itself. After about 5 minutes... Popup to indicate "your device has just been reset. Thank you for using QuickPull Free!" WITH ADS and an OK button. Mostly ok - but don't like the ad's and it resets the format of a picture used for Wallpaper.
Will there be more changes? -
-
I have a Storm with 5.02.328 and installed QuickPull Beta2 (aka. "PlzPlzPlzWork" build) for OS 5.0. Still a little to buggy for me.

I installed the beta on my Blackberry Storm, OS 5.0.0.328. QP works now but there are some bugs. For example, I noticed that it is very difficult to click on the 'Accept' button for the license agreement. I had to swipe over to it instead of lightly touching it. i can't get rid of the keyboard when i try to access settings either.
