How can we make StudentDocket easier to use?
Hey everyone!
We've been getting some great suggestions lately through both GetSatisfaction and our private support system found at www.StudentDocket.com/support. We'd like to thank you all for the contributions and remind you that, yes, we are listening.
While feature requests are great, we'd also like to get some feedback on how we can make StudentDocket easier to use, more intuitive, and easier to integrate with your student life.
For example, the create class screen seems pretty confusing to me at times, so one of the things we're looking to improve is the way this screen is displayed. We're also trying to find a more intuitive way to organize the icon bar along the top so that it displays correctly on both larger and smaller BlackBerry devices.
So let us know, how would you change StudentDocket?

Inappropriate?i know it doesn't happen to many people, but some people do forget to do homework, task, project, essays, etc. if that happens, and has the due date and class, it would be nice to show a reminder maybe 10-15 minutes before the class start. the thing is it is set up automatically, or a simple button right before u save the task. for example: i did write the essay that was due for class, but i left the essay on the desk in my dorm. on my way to class, 10-15 min before class starts, the reminder pops up for the task that has to be turned in today. i look thru my book bag n realize i don't have it and i rush to my dorm to retrieve it. this will be great, since it's happened a few of times to me.

Inappropriate?also, if i have multiple tasks, and click on show all ("task list"), they r listed in alphabetical class oreder. i would rather it list by task due date then class, than class then due dates. or an example is to have a view show up like this one

after which u can see ur classes, task due for class in bold, at the bottom of the days are task in red and how many are due on that day. u can then scroll to and click that day to see what is due in detail. i would like to see that. i think that would totally add a distinction and boost sales.
then again, this doesnt have to be the main screen, u could leave as it is since it will show what tasks are due on what day, but if i were to click on month view, it would totally rock if it showed something like that. -
Inappropriate?I agree. I'd prefer if you could order your classes according to how you want them ordered.
Also, being able to create a tutorial section for a class...as in Lecture and Tutorial but all for the same class, and be able to input separate teacher and location info, etc.
Being able to create more reminders per task would be awesome.
Also, I LOVE this app- so helpful, but it's not exactly easy on the eyes. It just needs to be better organized...maybe build in some customization options. Again, be able to order your classes. Maybe be able to add more than one prof per class...and a notes section for the prof would be awesome. Being able to change the colours and the layout (for instance I never use the "due this month" button...so I'd put that at the end rather than at the beginning. The ability to turn on and off calendar integration, and perhaps a homescreen you can turn on and off.
Also, an option to either hide completed tasks/projects, and/or to tag them with WHEN they were completed would be awesome.
A great app, and with some improvements and more ability to customize it to your specific needs (as we know with all the hyper over colorware etc...Students, teens, young adults LOVE to be able to customize) and no two students are the same.

Inappropriate?Hey everyone!
Thanks for the contributions, just a few questions about what we've got so far.
@iruiz: thanks for the representation of what you're looking for. we're trying to implement something along these lines, but it won't look exactly like that. Hopefully you guys will like what we've come up with. With regards to reminders. It's currently possible to setup reminders for tasks and projects. To do so, simply set the Reminder option to whenever you'd like to have a notification pop up. Is this not the kind of solution you were looking for?
@Navan: You can hide/unhide completed assignments by pressing the Blackberry button and selecting "Hide Completed". Once Hidden, repeat the process by select "Show Completed". Alternatively, you can also remove all completed tasks/projects using the same procedure.
We're working on quite a few changes to StudentDocket right now, hopefully you'll like what we've come up with. Thanks for the suggestions, keep 'em coming!

Inappropriate? This program would do well in creating an ability to edit projects and classes online or even just on a pc. Then it'd be unstoppable son.
I’m ... my tounge is dry.
