Bring back Similarity Meter!
What happened to the similarity diagram? I based half my stumbling off that.

Hi Community moderators?
Let's just admit that when you are running a 24/7 service, some folks will have to disappoint their kids from time to time. Just tell them they'll get full overtime while doing something fun and I promise you irrelevant and hostile postings won't accumulate and you will have less work to do first thing monday.

the Venn diagram that shows the percentage of similarities between two accounts needs to be brought back.
Friends tab needs to be added to sidebar

I agree the similarity meter was a nice touch.
I also liked to see when people joined and when they last logged on. Those features give a person an idea of whether a blog is active.

See what they should do, is bring it back and allow you to browse people depending on how similar you are. If you want to browse 90-100% 80-90, etc etc.

I never used it. I thought it was gimmicky with very limited value. Wouldn't want to deny it to anyone else who did enjoy it though, unless adding it back cluttered up the simplicity of the page or displaced anything more useful.

Inappropriate? That's now the "we both like".
Much better. The only thing is that it displays only a page of common links. Not enough. -
They really need to expand that somehow. choosing common pages in a galaxy of over 25.25 BILLION webpages is a little silly, imo. -
Inappropriate?I don't think so. I think we will take the habit very quickly to use it.
I played a little to see what I have in common with my friends, amusing.
I will use it in the future to know if I will add someone as friend or not.
But it is not exclusive, that can be propably easy to add the % of common tags next to this feature. Great!
I’m excited

Please keep it--- I have found it a really good measure of common interests---will miss it a great deal--depend on it--- -
I used it all the time, I can't seem to get the same kind of information from the we both like icon. I hope it brought back soon -
I can live without it. I thought it was silly but I am not against it.. its just not for me :) -

@Ellie I totally agree with you. I choose to make my own assessment of who I am compatible with, however, as long as it doesn ́t displace anything more useful then I have no objection either :)
(Incidentally, I subscribe to, and am friends with, a number of people who I am not-at-all similar to....according to the similarity meter) -

Inappropriate? Its an Amusing tool that most people get a kick out of nothing more...Some times it works & sometimes it doesn't but it gives you a general idea of your similar interest especially if you have filled out extensively your profile interests...So it doesn't hurt anyone...
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Not only amusing, useful.
Remember that a lot of us aren't new stumblers, and they have stumble habit.
You have to respect each way to stumble (it is not particulary mine, but I have my stumble habits too)
If some users have always been stumbling using this, they will quit stumbleupon rather than to change the way they always did. Because sometimes they are on SU almost only because they enjoy this way to discover pages.
So each way to stumble should be kept as far it is possible.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate? It probably wasnt very useful, but it was a fun addition. I wouldn't mind seeing it come back.
-
Inappropriate?I don't think it wasn't useful at all. I used this to assess who I should be adding as friends or not. I would HATE to see it go away.

Inappropriate?I want it back, darn straight I do! Loved stumbling people who showed a strong compatibility with my interests..........I'd miss it terribly if it's not put back on.
-
Inappropriate?Please do keep it----I depend a great deal on it-- Have really found it to be an accurate guide to common interests;
-
Inappropriate?I never understood or believed the results of the meter but see no reason this or any other function should be removed although it does seem that the Sadists at SU get some special joy out of causing pain to their customers and therefore take away what we like most, like our friends..
I’m Fe, what the Eskimos used to say
-
Inappropriate?I subscribe to people that have high percentages of matching, which I would have thought would be the point of it.
I want this back. Finding friends through stumbleupon and people I wanna sub is sort of much more difficult now.

Inappropriate?Where's the % alike feature? I really liked that small simple feature. It immediately let you know if you had something in common with a fellow stumbler. I also like being able to click on "Friends" to go to my friends list while on my home page. The other set up was much better, Go ahead and add features but please do not take them away or needlessly rename and hide them. Thanks

Inappropriate?i liked the comparison meter. i thought it was a fun little feature, i did use it gauge whether to subscribe to someone or to look at there pages. when i first started to use stumble upon i used this to find friends with common interests. I would like to see it again,I do like the "we both like" tab that's a fun as well.

Inappropriate?I'm having trouble posting here, so I hope it doesn't show up twice, but I don't think the meter was very useful. Something to look at perhaps, but most of the time I didn't find it very accurate. And besides, if you want variety and different points of view you have to go beyond what the meter says and look for yourself. If I just went by what the meter said I wouldn't have half of the friends that I do and I would be better off just looking at my blog and no one elses.

Inappropriate? Please bring this back, It is the easiest way for me to know when I want to subscribe to someone's favorites. Also it is a fun game to play with friends to see who can find the person most like you. I think it's a great community builder.

Inappropriate? It was kind of fun. Obviously not too profound as a personal match, but I did find it matched well with people who seemed to think in a way that was similar. Just a fun thing, at least for me. If you can implement it, you should. Be aware that for the people I meet on SU, a lot of the experience is personal interaction, along with the Web site / Web page sharing. You should be careful not to cripple that aspect of the SU experience.
-
Inappropriate?I agree that it loses the sense of community as it is possibly the only way you know if another stumbler has similar interests.

Inappropriate?similarity meter sucked because it looked for the same tags. It should compare the same pictures or links. I find even with the same tags, the idea behind the pictures varies wildly. Where people that really are similar, have a lot of the same pictures as I do.

Inappropriate?Bring the similarity meter back PLEASE...of course it's not accurate...not by a longshot....But many times, it's that meter that keeps me on a stumbler's page long enough to give it a look/see. There NO WAY I'm going to scroll through 'what we both like' with no end in sight....what a timesuck that is....and it totally wrecks my speed-stumbling rhythm.

Inappropriate?I wasn't sure what to make of the words "deployed to the production website" (sorry, Monica) but I can say the similarity meter is back on our pages in V4, and I think this is great.
I used to ridicule that gadget at times, didn't we all, but I think V4 really needed it as a kind of human touch.
It was also neat to find myself enjoying a friend's postings, then glance over at the sidebar and see the dial on 85%.
Tells me it's working . . .
Nice!
I’m sorry for being so harsh about V4 in the past
-
Inappropriate? One thing I'm sorry to lose with the new format is the "how similar are you" info when I'm checking out fellow stumblers. It really does provide a useful instant snapshot as to whether I'll like the person's stumbles or not
