AP has three primary options, but I am unsure of what level of protection is provided when the option "Check files when they are opened or copied" is unchecked?
I know it will not scan files if they are moved in something like Windows Explorer, but will objects that come in from the internet via a browser be checked?
In most of the VIPRE performance or Thunderbird e-mail issues reported, the initial response from Sunbelt is to disable Active Protection and retest the issue. It would seem that the AP function needs some tuning up.
Is there a near future update to the product that addresses issues with this functionality? Active Protection (on demand scanning) is one of the major differences between free and paid-license security software. Disabling it to gain acceptable system performance negates the value of the software.
Sunbelt seems more responsive than average to questions about the product (compared to the other vendors I am currently evaluating). Looking for signs that issues in the software will be addressed in a similar fashion.
Vipre shield turns red then announces active protection is not running followed by system lock up. Anyone else have this problem. I must reboot my system- sometimes several times.
active protection disables on start up, V shield turns red or after deep scan started. PC locked up requiring a cold shut down of laptop. Laptop running Win XP pro SP2
Email protection stops email downloads. I am using SSL ports 995 for pop3 and 465 for smtp. I configured this in advanced settings and email client (outlook) cannot
Outgoing server requres authentication and both in and out use SSL.
