if i disable active protection, then what's the point in using your product? does it still scan my computer as I'm using it, or will viruses be able to get through? I have noticed a considerable slow down of opening, and closing windows on the computer. If it is disabled will it still scan e-mails? In addition to this, I don't require my computer to scan my out going e-mails, but I can't find a setting to disable that.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Oh, I had to reformat my computer...it was unrelated to your products...Hard Drive crash, and so I "Only" have Vipre, and Sunbelt Firewall, and nothing else running. I've had the Firewall crash quite a few times as well.
Am finding cannot get email scan working with outlook 2003 was told by a support tech last month that you were comming out with an update or upgrade to vipre that will work with ssl and outlook 2003
In most of the VIPRE performance or Thunderbird e-mail issues reported, the initial response from Sunbelt is to disable Active Protection and retest the issue. It would seem that the AP function needs some tuning up.
Is there a near future update to the product that addresses issues with this functionality? Active Protection (on demand scanning) is one of the major differences between free and paid-license security software. Disabling it to gain acceptable system performance negates the value of the software.
Sunbelt seems more responsive than average to questions about the product (compared to the other vendors I am currently evaluating). Looking for signs that issues in the software will be addressed in a similar fashion.
Vipre shield turns red then announces active protection is not running followed by system lock up. Anyone else have this problem. I must reboot my system- sometimes several times.
My Outlook stops all send/receive of email on all accounts. RSS feeds however still work fine.VIPRE active protection being off fixes the problem but I get alot of email and would like to know if there's a way to have Active Protection on AND have my Outlook function as it should.
When I access big executable files (like win xp sp3 installer) Vipre uses about 90% of CPU and my computer slows down for a long time. When I tried to install VMware workstation (500MB installer file) I had to wait about 15 minutes for the installer to start. Finally I gave up, disabled vipre active protection and computer responded fine. Is there anyway to fix this behavior? I am using vipre in 2 computers with win xp SP3 and am having the same problems.
Email protection stops email downloads. I am using SSL ports 995 for pop3 and 465 for smtp. I configured this in advanced settings and email client (outlook) cannot
Outgoing server requres authentication and both in and out use SSL.
I frequently get Vipre notices that "Bass.dll" is a suspicious file, and I choose to allow because I see that it's in Windows\System32 and I don't want to delete anything from there. Yesterday I got 3 more, but this time from Program Files\PopCap Games. Does anyone have any more info on this mystery file? Safe? Unsafe? (I am not playing a game when this happens, but they are still installed on my system.)
When I installed VIPRE, I was told by the installation sequence that I had Ad Aware installed on my computer, so I was advised to not enable VIPRE's Active Protection. I know I uninstalled Ad Aware a long time ago, so I enabled VIPRE's Active Protection. Now my computer is running very slowly due to VIPRE (SBAMSvc.exe) continually using 18%-45% of CPU resources.
I turned to VIPRE to decrease the problems of heavy CPU usage.
How can I get rid of all traces of Ad Aware OR how can I get VIPRE to not use so many resources?
AP has three primary options, but I am unsure of what level of protection is provided when the option "Check files when they are opened or copied" is unchecked?
I know it will not scan files if they are moved in something like Windows Explorer, but will objects that come in from the internet via a browser be checked?
active protection disables on start up, V shield turns red or after deep scan started. PC locked up requiring a cold shut down of laptop. Laptop running Win XP pro SP2
