When I access big executable files (like win xp sp3 installer) Vipre uses about 90% of CPU and my computer slows down for a long time. When I tried to install VMware workstation (500MB installer file) I had to wait about 15 minutes for the installer to start. Finally I gave up, disabled vipre active protection and computer responded fine. Is there anyway to fix this behavior? I am using vipre in 2 computers with win xp SP3 and am having the same problems.
with Email Protection enabled and set to monitor Outbound (SMTP) I am unable to send email with thunderbird. Inbound works fine, gmail which uses non standard ports works fine. I am also not experiencing some of the other issues I have seen posted with thunderbird becoming very slow. but I am still on software version 3.1.2243
I have now been without VIPRE for two weeks since version 3.1.2315 released. I have been unable to us Thunderbird e-mail on three different PCs. Earlier version worked fine. Have uninstalled VIPRE and am now using AVG Free until a fix is found. Contacted tech support and they could offer no solutions except to WAIT for a new release. Not a good answer. Something has been wrong between VIPRE and Thunderbird for some time it seems. I have had issues even while beta tesing.
I believe there are many users out there who are just as frustrated as I am.
Any help would be appreciated as I really don't want to scrap VIPRE. The problem appears to be mostly with XP machines and I have VIPRE 3.1.2315 on a Vista PC and it works fine.
Two weeks ago I purchased VIPRE and have tried to use it 3 different times. I have a Security suite from McAfee which has 18 months left on it so I only wanted to use VIPRE for its repective parts while keeping the other parts of McAfee but it is freezing up my whole system. Counterspy has done a great job and so I ended up removing VIPRE from my system and completely reloading Counterspy before I could get up and running again. Can I get my 9.95 back since there is no way VIPRE is going to run until I completely remove McAfee?
How do you configure email protection with SSL protected email? I am not seeing anything in my log files indicating that email protection is properly functioning, and I have used both the gmail ports for outlook, and deleted the ports.
What controls updating the Vipre software version?? Definitions are updated OK but my software version is 3.1.2243 yet the Sunbelt web site shows 3.1.2315 as the latest. Clicking on "check for updates" just tells me my definitions are current but says nothing about the software version.
When scanning a folder or file, instead if Vipre full panel appears, only the icon changes/blinks allowing you to right click or left the icon to see the report.
In most of the VIPRE performance or Thunderbird e-mail issues reported, the initial response from Sunbelt is to disable Active Protection and retest the issue. It would seem that the AP function needs some tuning up.
Is there a near future update to the product that addresses issues with this functionality? Active Protection (on demand scanning) is one of the major differences between free and paid-license security software. Disabling it to gain acceptable system performance negates the value of the software.
Sunbelt seems more responsive than average to questions about the product (compared to the other vendors I am currently evaluating). Looking for signs that issues in the software will be addressed in a similar fashion.
I am running Vista Home Basic and Outlook 2003. After installing VIPRE with Outlook closed I still receive mail. With Outlook open the Send/Receive tab does not work. If I don't restart the computer after a couple of days Outlook starts sending multiple copies of individual emails (7 to 9 copies).
Vipre and new Counterspy 3.1.2315 compatible with Thunderbird? Very slow response to open anything. All is good when disabled. Tried disabling the email scanner in Vipre--no change. Had updated Kerio (SPF) to newest version before installing and had uninstalled Counterspy before installing Vipre.
Uninstalled Vipre and reinstalled new version of Counterspy, and then had same problem with email response so slow it was unbearable. Exit Counterspy and again, email just fine.
BTW, first scan with Vipre wiped out all my email--had to establish "new" account in Thunderbird and then import original mailbox, but all settings and filters are gone.
No problems for two years of using the products, so was excited by all the good reviews of Vipre and had been looking for AVG alternative to new version 8 (I did uninstall that too before Vipre), so am frustrated to the max.
Automatic Updates Do Not Seem To Be Working In VIPRE
The reason I say this is ...
I have Automatic Updates ENABLED
Allow Automatic Internet Access is CHECKED
Automatically Check For Updates is CHECKED
Check for updates every 2 hours
Today at 8:00am EST the Risk Definitions were 2164
Today at 12 Noon the Risk Definitions were 2164
Today at 12:15pm I manually checked for updates
The Risk definitions updated to 2165
Why didn't VIPRE update the definitions automatically the way it is set to.
Evaluating VIPRE Enterprise. Mail client Outlook 2007 with Exchange 2003
With 'Email protection on desktops' enabled i am unable to send an attachment from outlook. Is there a way to alter this? I need to have Outlook messages and attachments scanned but also have to be able to send attachments.
Are there more settings available per policy or is it simply on or off?
Installed purchased version of VIPRE and now my computer is very slow at login. It actually never gets to my Desktop and is very sluggish...like it's locked up. I also have Personal Firewall v 4.6.1845.0 installed. If I disable the SBAMSvc.exe service, I am able to get logged in and to my Desktop.
Had VIPRE working good, but now I am having problem auto updating defs, I should say the first time the program will auto update but it checks a second time in two hours it gives me a error about a problem with internet connection? Then it goes to manual update.
Second problem: Download speed is very slow, 11 kB/s. Is this me or you?
Two weeks ago installed Vipre version 3.1.2243. Computer ran great. Program ran great. Today I purchased Vipre and upgraded to version 3.1.2315. Now my computer runs slow if it runs at all. Reverted back to version 3.1.2243 and all is running great again. Version 3.1.2243 was lean and efficient 18.59 MB. Version 3.1.2315 is fat and bloated and inefficient 93.94MB. That is more than five times larger. Are you going to fix this problem or am I going to have to uninstall Vipre and lose thirty dollars.
