A few features to think about adding in later revisions!
I am really liking VIPRE now that it appears stable, saying that may I suggest one or two things:
1. When a PC has been shutdown for longer than a day, you get nagged by the gold exclamation mark from hell. Could an option be added that allows you to suppress the messages, also allowing VIPRE to update automatically without the nag?
2. On my machine I do not have an email client nor do I check email on it. Could an option be added to ignore disabled features so the shield shows a normal blue hue.
Thanks
Jay

Inappropriate?Hello Jay,
We're happy to see that you enjoy using our product. In regards to your two suggestions, I will be informing our Research and Development team of having the Updates Reminder icon optional, along with email protection so that the Vipre icon remains blue.
Thanks for the suggestions,
Eric
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I know Sunbelt Support has much more to worry about than what I'm about to ask, and with the threat of you guys telling me to 'get a life', I was wondering if any more thought has gone into the redesign of the tray icon to the original snake image in the shortcut? The icon with just the V seems kind of lame as the icon for the product itself is quite powerful (IMHO). Perception is reality. It doesn't seem to me to be that difficult to do. Or is it? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll make sure the product manager gets this. We don't have much say as far as design goes, but I'll make sure the this gets into the right hands. -
Inappropriate?Hi CaptKirk,
I already heard back from our product manager. he said he also liked the idea and "If we can get a decent looking snake icon that small, we’ll include it in 4.0."
Thank you again for the suggestion
-
What's wrong with the one you already have service marked? It's small enough to use in the 'scan with VIPRE' drop down. I think it is the one most recognized. I assume by '4.0' you mean the 'suite'? -
4.0 is the next major version release of VIPRE. It won't be a true suite, but will have a version offered with the firewall integrated.
It should be out later this year, we have been working on it for a while.
I'll pass on your suggestion about the icon in the drop down menu. -
Thanks. I would appreciate that. I'm actually running VIPRE and SPF together now. Not sure, but I'm also assuming that a version 4.0 would be considered an 'upgrade' which would probably mean more $$$? Years ago in Windows, you could actually easily change the appearance of your icons. Not so today. -
Hi CaptKirk,
As long as your within your subscription period, upgrades are free. I'm not sure how the pricing is going to be handled with the version that has the firewall integrated. I'm sure when the release time gets closer, we will send out information in that. -
OK, thanks Mike. I'll keep looking for that icon upgrade too! -
Inappropriate?I was Playing around just to see how my Taskbar would look without that lame McAfee like V icon. I think it can be done!
I’m amused

Inappropriate?I'm about to mention a competitor so if this offends you cover your ears but AVG has an option to ignore disabled components that you should implement in regards to the original poster's idea, #2. Instead of just having the option to keep a blue shield (which I also agree with) create checkboxes next to the modules and let us choose how we're alerted in regards to disabled components (similar also to the Microsoft Security Center).
In regards to the notification when an update has been missed, I find it odd that it will display that icon when a failed update occurs but I've had times where it was able to do a successful update the next hour. That gold sheild should be able to cure itself if the event cures itself.. otherwise I think it's important if something else were to fail...
IMHO..
I’m sitting here

Inappropriate?Mycarefreepc.com Thank you for posting your idea.
I will pass this idea on to the developers.
With the notifications, it might fail to update once because the server is busy, but as long as its not doing it ever time you try to update you are still protected. we are working on resolving what is causing the update failures.
If you have any other comments or any questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter
