Active Protection DEFAULTS
What are the default Active Protection settings (e.g. Which boxes are checked by default after installing the file)?
I notice there are three boxes to be checked:
1.) Notify me when CS blocks and quarantines known risks
2.) Prompt for action if CS determines that a program has suspicious characteristics
3.) Check files when they are opened or copied.
I notice that when Active Protection is on, only #1 is checked. Should the other two be turned on also? Or is there a risk of diminishing performance by turning those settings on?

Inappropriate?By default only the 1st one is checked. The 2nd option can cause quite a bit more pop-ups because it will prompt on anything with suspicious characteristics. You can turn the 3rd option on if you don't have any other security software's active protection running, but if you notice any loss in performance it may be caused by that Check files when they are opened or copied option.

Inappropriate?Peterh,
Thank you for the response.
So I'm going to take that one of the differences between Version 3 and the older Version 2.5 is that now we can choose whether or not we want to have the prompt box come up to notify us of programs that are trying to run that are "suspicious"?
I remember in version 2.5, by default and on Medium setting, anytime a program started that CS didnt recognize, you would have to manually keep hitting "Allow" and then check the box "Remember always" or something like that. Therefore you would have a long list of programs in your "Allow" list versus your "Block" list.
Now version 3.0 that is not the case, but we can turn it on if we want right?
Have a great week.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? When you have the Prompt for action is enabled, Both Counterspy and VIpre use Heuristics to determine if the action it is taking can be considered dangerous, and not necessarily based on the definitions. So this can cause warnings in addition to what is in the definitions for known threats. In these new version of Counterspy and VIpre its an option that can be turned on and off.
