Antivirus 2009 returns
I installed Vipre last week to remove Antivirus 2009. It did this, but today it's back, even though Viper does a deep scan every day. How did this happen, and what can I do to prevent it from returning?

Inappropriate?Hello Jtauser,
Thank you for Posting!
Sorry to hear that you are having difficulty with AntiVirus2009. Please verify that you have active protection running and set to medium. To verify please open Vipre and go to File > Settings > Active Protection. Also, please run a scan in safe mode to ensure it removes all traces. I have included instructions for you below.
Safe mode instructions
Windows 2000
* If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
* Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
* When you see the black-and-white Starting Windows bar at the bottom of the screen, start tapping the F8 key. The Windows 2000 Advanced Options Menu appears.
* Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected. In most cases, it is the first item in the list and is selected by default.
* Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
* When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.
Windows XP/vista
* If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
* Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
* Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
* Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
* Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
* When you are finished with all troubleshooting, close all programs and restart the computer as you normally would.

Inappropriate?I had the same problem tried all solutions from this site but nothing worked. i also had the problem of my computer shutting down every 5 mins so couldn't run any scans. finally stopped it shutting down by running avg 8 in safe mode, then googeling the name of every item in my msconfig - start up. my problem was a file called brastk.exe. Checked my ctr/alt/del processes and ended brastk.exe and sure enough it disappeared from my task bar. I then ran these (all free)
1.Spybot - Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org
2.Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - http://www.download.com/Malwarebytes-....
3. SUPERAntiSpyware - http://www.superantispyware.com
4.Spywareblaster - http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywa....
5.Ccleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com/
I believe Malwarebytes was the one that removed the files for me but ran all of them just to be sure and to have on my computer for any future pointless viruses!!
Hope this helps someone else
I’m annoyed this wasted my time

Inappropriate?I have helped several people infected with Windows Antivirus 2009 and have only had success with Malwarebytes. It will remove the nasty infection from where it is hiding in the Registry and, unfortunately, Vipre never even saw it. I think Antivirus 2009 hijacks most Anti Virus software.
