Auto Update Error/No Error Reporting Problem
Have just installed VIPRE'S ANTIVIRUS+ANTISPYWARE and SUNBELT'S FIREWALL. Updates worked fine initially. Automatic updates are scheduled for every 1 hour. As Gordon indicated above, I did receive "vipre has encountered an error" messages when there was no Internet connection - as expected. However, within last few days, have maintained settings, but have not received error message ("Show Balloons" is checked). Any reason for this?
Manual updates seem to proceed as expected.
The reason for the concern is that prior to installing Vipre+Sunbelt Firewall, I had Trend Micro Int Sec installed. A Trojan had slipped through and 1) initially prevented Trend Micro from updating 2) after a quarantine and then re-install of Trend Micro, apparently Trojan was still active and would not allow me to launch Trend Micro.
Went through trial of Bit Defender and F-Secure. Bit Defender found the Trojan in a restore point file. Cleaned it, deleted restore points and went on to use Bit Defender only to find out what a mess it is to use. F-Secure leaks (on my system using the grc leak test).
Now have the Vipre+Sunbelt install. Seems to be working fine and much more accommodating than other security software tested, but the minor issue of not showing error when it should be attempting an update and then should fail because of no Internet connection is a bit concerning.
I also do research, consulting and make recommendations for SOHO systems. In this regard, have purchased full installs for the previously mentioned systems. After about $150 worth of 2009s greatest security software tested, I would like to stick with Vipre+Sunbelt but then also have a need to be able to explain all aspects of how the program operates if want to spread the word and keep clients happy.

Inappropriate?Going to http://www.sunbelt-software.com/suppo... resulted in a redirect to the knowledge base, where a keyword search did not display any results for VClean.exe or derivative spellings.
Please repost url/location of VClean.exe.
Anyway, tried producing connection update error changing the system clock time by jumping ahead 1 hr. This worked. Will see if it contiues to be consistent.
Thanks. -
