Cannot run automatic scan. Thinks console is open, but it's not.

I am receiving the message: "Counterspy cannot run an automatic scan while the console is open." However the console is not open. The only processes running are: SBCSSvc.exe and SBCStray.exe.

I’m frustrated

Try setting a scheduled scan for a time when you are in front of your computer. This is one way of testing if CounterSpy is conflicting with something else thats running at that particular time. ( eg, set it a few minutes ahead of now.) Also, you can try deleting the default scheduled scan time and making your own. Another thing that can be causing this is if you have CounterSpy open in another user account, or if your computer goes into a hibernation or sleep mode when you are away.

If it's still giving you the same problem. Just uninstall and reinstall CounterSpy to reset everything. When you reinstall, if you have any other security programs, anti-spyware/anti-virus, make sure you turn them off so they dont interfere with the installation process.
