Can't send Thunderbird e-mail with attachments!!!

Can't send Thunderbird e-mail with large attachments unless I disable e-mail scanning. I have Vipre definition file version 5052. This just started a week ago after a definition update. Thunderbird is version 2.0.0.21. Is this a known problem and is there a fix in the works?
