Inappropriate?Hi brencan1,
I apologize for this inconvenience. Let's try running a scan in Windows Safe Mode.
*Restart your computer, then tap the F8 key on the keyboard after it first starts up (ex. If you have a Dell it will flesh Dell on the screen, then start tapping F8). When the menu appears, use the arrow keys to select safe mode and press enter twice. If you are prompted to select a user, select your username.
Run a scan and let me know if it still crashes or fails to complete the scan.
Thanks,
~Tim -
I ran a quick scan in safe mode and it complete successfully. It found one harmless cookie. Still, seconds after it start a scan in regular mode it renders my system unuseable and I have to reboot. -
Inappropriate?brencan1,
It sounds like there is a conflict with some other software running on your system. Do you have any other security software such as another antivirus/antispyware or a firewall running? -
Inappropriate?I have Norton 360 v2. I've never had aproblem with the two running together before.
I’m still frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi brencan1,
If you disable Norton 360, does it then allow CounterSpy scans to work in regular Windows mode?
Thanks,
~Tim -
Inappropriate?I am not exactly sure how to disable 360 completely. I disabled the firewall and also autoprotect and ran a quick scan of counter spy in normal mode. Again all sorts of boxes (DEP) popped up and basically crashed my computer.
Help??Please??
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hi Brencan1,
I would like to further research this issue. We'll need to get some logs from CounterSpy.
1. First open Counterspy by double clicking on the Counterspy icon in the System tray (Down by the time on your computer)
2. Click on the word “Help” then “About”
3. Then click on the button labeled “Support tools” then “Run Diagnostics”
4. Make sure that all the boxes are checked and click “ok”
5. Once this starts, it will take a couple minutes while the utility gathers information. It will create a file on your desktop called “Counterspy Antispyware Diagnostics.rar”
6. After that file appears, run the following utility.
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/suppo...
