Counterspy V3 scans faster, but registry scanning is not as thorough as Version 2.5?
For the past 5 months i've been using version 2.5, full computer scans have always taken about an hour (deep-scan mode) and about ~105,000 registry files are scanned each time.
Now with version 3.1.2552, i performed a deep-scan yesterday and it indeed scans quicker (~45 minutes for full deep-scan), yet the registry scan only goes through about 26,000 registry files compared to Version 2.5's 108,000 registry files scanned, is this an issue or is this an "upgrade" where V3 only scans necessary registry locations (thereby increasing scan time)?

Inappropriate?No, it's still scanning the registry, it's just much faster.
If you choose Custom Scan and only scan the Registry, you'll be quite amazed at the speed. In fact, during the beta, we had a number of people believing that the functionality was broken since it was so fast. It's not -- it generally takes only a few seconds to scan the registry with the new engine.

But still this doesn't explain why the total number of registry files scanned is diminished to 26-28,000 registry files versus the original 108,000 registry files that were scanned using the older Version 2.5???

Inappropriate?The count of scanned Registry keys is different primarily because we implemented a more efficient method of scanning the Registry. Instead of pulling a dragnet through the entire Registry looking for known bad Registry keys, we scan the most critical areas of the Registry where malware is likely to store Registry data essential to its operation. This new method of Registry scanning not only concentrates the focus of our Registry scanning but changes the way the count itself for Registry scanning is handled. Instead of counting the number of keys we look for, we count the number of places we look.The net result is the same protection delivered with a more efficeint scan design.
