CS3.1 Deep Scan Stalls
I updated to version 3.1 today. It will not run a complete scan of my hard drive now. After 92 minutes+ the CS icon on the lower right turns red and the scan stops. There's no way to make the scan resume. Running XP SP2.

Inappropriate?Hello Andy,
Thank You for Posting.
Please try to disable the RootKit Detection..
To do this please go to File > Settings > Scan Options.
Please verify that RootKit Detection is not enabled for Deep and Quick scan modes.
Please let me know if you still have a problem.

Perry,
I tried that already. Didn't help.
I also ran CCleaner & Registry Booster this morning to try to clean up anything that might be left from CS2.5. Didn't help.
The scan always stalls after 91-93 minutes.Somewhere in the middle of my program files. The CS icon on the bar on the lower right corner is always red when I find the scan stalled. Almost like CS has timed itself out.
As mentioned, I'm running XP SP2. I have AVG Free 8.0 & Comodo Firewall Pro on my computer as well. I don't think they're the problem because the scan runs for the 90+ minutes every time. Neither one prevents the scans from starting. And neither one puts any kind of message up about shutting CS down.
Is there any way for me to go back to CS2.5?

I too am having this problem. Has any fix been made? The only difference is that mine stops at about 45 to 49 munutes. Otherwise it is the same. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Well, I just finished the rather long and involved process for uninstalling CS V2.5. Got done and all remnants of CS 2.5 were gone. I then downloaded the latest CS V3 from Sun's website. Installed it and tried to activate with my key. CS 3 would not send key to activate. The definition update also would not function. The program would use 100% of system resources therefore not allowing the connection to update the definitions or allow the activation with my key. This has gotten to be a real PITA. I now cannot find the last version of CS 2.5 to install. Any idea where I might find it? This is especially frustrating as I just renewed my subscription last month (7/08). As it stands now I have no anti spyware. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
Frank -
Well, I finally got CS V3 to take my activation and got the definitions to update. All to no avail. Removing all of my other security progs and trying to run a scan (Deep or quick, doesn't matter), the scans will fail. I have given up. I removed CS from my machine and am chocking whats left of my subscription (11 months) up as a mistake. I hope the rest of you get your problems solved. Although by the lack of responses to this problem that looks to be not very likely.

Inappropriate?I'm having the same issue. Deep Scan stalls in the first few minutes, usually at a random spot. Also, I'm running XP Service Pack 3.

Inappropriate? On Comodo Firewall, permanantly disable Defence+

Inappropriate? My deep scan doesn't finish either. I have tried everything what has been said here to be a possible sollution. But still it's not finishing the scan.
Isn't there any sollution for this problem??
otherwise I'm thinking of getting a refund, thats possible isnt it?
ciao
I’m disappointed
-
Inappropriate?D. Oranje, do you have comodo installed on your machine also? Or do you have any other security software installed?
-
Inappropriate?Yes I do have comodo firewall on my machine, but with that turned off it still stalls. Not sure if I turned NOD32 off too but I think I did..
My system crashed yesterday, don't know if counterspy had anything to do with it? My sister talked about getting a message to allow or block some application, she didn't tell me what program asked her for that, but after she clicked block, the system shut down and started with a black screen after the windows xp loading screen. Couldn't start in safe mode either. Was able to safe some of my files though with help of a friend. Are there more known cases of system crashes caused by counterspy?
Now I'm installing xp pro and gonna install counterspy again and comodo firewall and NOD32. What must I turn off in comodo firewall for counterspy to work properly? Don't really want to turn off anything in NOD32 because at this time I trust NOD32 more than counterspy.
Thanks for your reply Peterh.
ciao
I’m hopefull

Inappropriate?Try installing Counterspy and scanning without Comodo installed first to make sure its not freezing then install Comodo and see if it still freeze's.

Inappropriate?i had blackscreen when loading window vista too. that only happened in the next loading of Windows after i installed the counterspy 3. It crashed with my McAfee security suite i guess.
