Inappropriate?Hey Big-al,
Thanks for posting! What you can do is download the manual definitions to get up to date. This should fix any possible corruption in your current definitions.
First clear out your temporary internet files. Do this by opening the internet explorer, Click on the word "tools" then "Internet options"
When this window opens, choose delete files.
- Download the latest definition file from the following link. When asked to “run or save”, choose save and save the file to your desktop.
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/c...
- Double click on the downloaded file to update the definitions
The definitions should now be up to date.
If you continue to experience any more problems please feel free to contact our support team at support@sunbelt-software.com and we will have someone work directly with you.
Thanks,
~Tim -
Link also appears to be broken -
After trying your link It told me that the link no longer exists -
After trying again this afternoon (19.6.08) all def.downloads are working again.
Must have been a bug somewhere in the Sunbelt system as other users are also back on line -
Inappropriate?big-al,
I have even downloaded the file to fix it, and it still didn't help it. The weird part is that this just happened out of the blue. Any suggestions anyone? -

TimN,
Yeah, I waited until 8:30p CST, and it was working great. -
Inappropriate?I just contacted your support team via the telephone and they sent me a link that sends me here. When I click on your fix (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/c... I get a message telling me that the page I'm looking for no longer exists. WHAT DO I DO NOW?
-
Inappropriate?Hey Karl,
For some reason the link above to the manual definitions got cut off and doesn't work. Try the Tinyurl provided below to manually update the definitions.
http://tinyurl.com/6ponyt
Thanks -
Big-al also tried this programe and it updated my definition to ver.823.
Going back to my original problem it will not load ver. 824 saying again that there was an error downloading the file.?????? -
Big-al's definitions are now up and working......unknown problem presumably solved by Sunbelt Techs. -
Inappropriate?I followed the instructions...still not fixed. CounterSpy will not allow Definition Version 824 to download.
-
Big-al also now has the same problem -
Inappropriate?um...followed manual update instruction as did others...not did it not fix the problem...it did not update to latest definition(at least 824) as it claims it is doing...still stuck with out of date definition 823 and error refusing to allow updating
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?so...is Sunbelt looking into this matter? Obviously the problem is not unique or unreproducable
I’m frustrated
-
Can Sunbelt fix this problem and advise All of us how to "realy" solve this problem. I for one will not purchase this produce again if this problem can not be solved in a timley manner......big-al -
Thankyou Sunbelt for solving our problem -
Inappropriate? For whatever reason, I just logged onto my computer and 824 downloaded. Cool Beans. Thanks to whoever did what.
-
Inappropriate?I have had a couple of installations suddenly update properly also...but one machine seems unable to merge definition 824...no error message, but appears caught in endless loop...reboot brings startup error for CS then says cannot merge definition 824
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?followed original repair instructions for one remaining installation that will not merge definition 824(although it does download it)...sends me back to definition 823, downloads definition 824...and proceeds to make machine unusable...definition won't merge, machine appears to be in endless loop, can't even stop process...must reboot...then CS disables itself
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?tried original repair instructions again...took about 15 minutes for definition 824 to merge...then grabbed 825, merged immediatly....seems to be back in service
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?all other intsallations beyond that last one that was so problematic, have updated and seem to be running normally...thanks Sunbelt...
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?Hey guys,
I apologize for the inconveniences this may have caused. The link I gave previously is only to manually update, not fix the error. That has been looked into and should be fixed now. the manual updates are updated separately from the definitions we download within the CounterSpy program itself.
**For any merging problems:
First clear out your temporary internet files.
Do this by opening the internet explorer, Click on the word "tools" then "Internet options" When this window opens, choose delete files.
Then, open CounterSpy, click on "File" then "Download full definitions"
That should correct the problem.
Also, our support team is available to be reached at support@sunbelt-software.com anytime or contact us by phone at 1-877-673-1153 M-F 9am-6pm EST and we can answer any questions or problems you may be continuing to have with the definitions.
Thanks,
~Tim -
Inappropriate?I use Firefox not IE as my browser. I downloaded the file & updated to 826. The next update to 827 got the dreaded "error in file" down load message.
Now what?
Callmeal
-
Inappropriate?Callmeal,
I'm stuck in the same situation again. I am also receiving the errors, and I do think it is there servers acting up.

I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hmmm, I let the application scan over night and it updated without a problem this morning.
