Inappropriate?Make sure that your firewall is not blocking Vipre from connecting to the internet.
-
This just started. I didn't change any firewall settings or turn-on any security or install any extra security programs. Perhaps it happened after an update. I don't know. But at one time I was getting updates without any problem. Starman002 -
The firewall is not blocking Vipre. Just to test, I disabled the firewall & no change. Any other ideas? -
Inappropriate?Try and disable your firewall and any other security software you have running and see if its then able to update.
-
Inappropriate?Try using our manual definition updater:
http://sunbelt-software.com/ihs/VCDef...
After manually updating your definitions are you able to update normally? -
Sorry, but I still have the problem. Starman002 -
Inappropriate? Please go to the Start button and click on Run. Type cmd and click the OK button. In the window that comes up type "ipconfing /flushdns" without the quotes. Does that solve the problem?
-
Nick H., Sorry, but this didn't make any difference. -
Inappropriate?Let's see if you are able to connect to our update servers. Please go to the Start button and click on Run. Type cmd and click the OK button. In the window that comes up type "ping updates.sunbeltsoftware.com" without the quotes. What are the results?
-
Nick H. my results are the following:
Pinging updates.sunbelt-software.com [127.0.0.1] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 127.0.0.1: bytes=32 time<1ms><1ms><1ms><1ms><0>,
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 0ms, Maximum =0ms, Average = 0ms
Please help. Starman002 -
Inappropriate? That is not the address it should be connecting to.
It seems like something is re-directing your traffic to that location, try and run this utility to reset the winsocks settings, then try and ping updates.sunbeltsoftware.com and let me know what address it pings.

Inappropriate?I did as above & the system did an update & installed Vipre. It is working well now. Thanks. Starman002
I’m happy

I thought the problem was fixed, but I was wrong. Updates are not working again. Here are the ping results. Each of these is times 4.
Reply from 64.128.133.140: bytes=32 time=69ms TTL=120
Ping statistics for 64.128.133.140: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate rount trip in milli-seconds: Minimum = 66ms, Maximum = 88mn, Average = 72ms. Does that help? Starman002 -
Inappropriate?Hello again Starman002, is it still saying that its failing because of an inability to connect to the internet or is it giving a different error message?
-
Inappropriate? In order to make it easier to manually update the definitions we have created a website with instructions, and a simpler installation process.
