Definition Updates Failing
Hi, I seem unable to get updates at the moment, I got a warning in the system tray to say VIPRE had encountered an error, when I checked that it indicated the last updates had not succeeded. I then performed a manual update and that failed as well with a red X. I checked internet connectivity and I can browse the web OK. I have made no changes to Windows Firewall or installed any new software.
Any help appreciated.

Inappropriate?Hello Siv,
Thank you for contacting technical support.
We’re sorry to see there are problems with the definitions updating.
To correct this problem, all we need to do is upload the definitions into Vipre manually. This is a six step procedure shown below the link. First you must make sure you have Vipre installed, then proceed with these instructions.
http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Home-H...
To manually install one of these VIPRE definition files, please follow these steps:
1. Download the most recent definition file for your language using the download link to your computer
2. Open VIPRE (right-click on the tray icon or double-click on the shortcut put on your desktop)
3. From the main menu, select "File" and choose "Settings..."
4. In the "Update Now" section, choose "Browse"
5. Navigate to where you downloaded the file
6. Select the file you downloaded and the installation will proceed automatically.
Please notify me if there are any further issues/concerns.
Warm Regards,
Eric Milliot

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem. I do have the latest definitions because I had to reinstall following yesterdays new version mess. Now if I check to see if there is an update, Vipre says the risk definitions update has failed.
-
Inappropriate?Eric,
I have just looked at your reply to my initial post and I can see that the definitions you are getting me to update match my system so I am up to date? What I don't get is why VIPRE keeps telling me the update has failed when clearly there is no update yet??
Is this a bug in VIPRE's update engine?
I’m Less worried!

Inappropriate?Eric,
I didn't follow the procedure because the definitions you pointed me at, are the same number as the ones reported as being my "current version" in the dialog I uploaded (V5083).
I assumed that there is no point following your procedure as the version would be the same after doing it?
Please advise what you want me to do/

Inappropriate?Eric,
I have now followed your procedure and the 5083 definitions were loaded from the file I downloaded from your link. I then did a manual update to see if that would work now and it still comes back with the following:
I’m less happy again.
-
Inappropriate?Yesterday I downloaded the entire Vipre file because Vipre was uninstalled during the new update. So I already have the latest definitions.
-
Inappropriate?Hello Siv,
That is the latest definition we have available right now for Vipre. You can verify this by visiting the Vipre homepage at this site.
http://www.sunbeltsoftware.com/Home-H...
If you are not able to download definition 5084 then please email us at support@sunbelt-software.com .
We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you.

Inappropriate?I apologize for the inconvenience. At this time the update servers are down for maintenance. Our Internal IT is doing there best to get them up as soon as possible. They should be back up soon.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Peter,
Thanks for the update, that makes complete sense to me and stops me panicking that my system has a problem.
I will see if updates start occurring normally again.
