Email module disabled and unavailable; updates launch everytime console is opened
XP-sp2 (All updates); Installed Vipre (latest verson (3.2, 5010)); email module is showing disabled and is not available from the console. Trey icon is also gray. Also when I attempt to open console; Updates launch and timeout; however I'm connected to net. If I click cancel the console will open and the updates option is green and I can click on update now and all is good.

Inappropriate?Ty, do you mean that when you open up the main Vipre window, you don't have email protection listed? If you click file, then settings, is email protection listed in here?
-
Inappropriate? That is correct.. That option is not there and the updates option keeps disabling.
I’m still confused
-
Inappropriate?Ty, please click start, then look at the user name that is listed at the top, does it have a "&" in it?
-
Inappropriate?Ty, I apologize for the inconveniences. The email protection issue within VIPRE has been discovered to be a conflict with the USERNAME you've chosen as your logon for Windows.
Using a 'space' or a foreign character like '&' in the USERNAME of your PC is what is causing this conflict within VIPRE.
This is going to be fixed in a later update. As a workaround to remedy the situation now, you can use the instructions below to create a new user account.
To Create a New User Account in Windows XP:
Click 'Start' and click 'Control Panel'.
Click 'User Accounts'.
Click 'Create a new account' in the 'Pick a task' list box.
Type the name that you want to use for the account, and then click 'Next'.
Select administrator for the account type, and then click 'Create Account'.
To Create a New User Account in Windows VISTA:
Click 'Start' and click 'Control Panel'.
Click 'User Accounts and Family Safety'.
Under 'User Accounts', click 'Add or remove user accounts'.
Click 'Create a new account'.
Type in the account name. Select the account type: Administrator.
Click Create Account.
*Remember to only use standard alphanumeric characters when naming this new user account.
Now log off your existing account and log back into the newly created account.
Since VIPRE remembers it's 'last known state', you'll need to 'shutdown' VIPRE and restart it. To do this simply right-click on the VIPRE icon by your system clock, choose 'shutdown'.
Unfortunately VIPRE will not function in the old user account properly, even if you rename that account. You can keep this account, but remember that VIPRE will not function normally when logged into that account. We recommend copying your data over to the new account and then deleting that old account.
To create a duplicate of an user profile with a different user name, try this:
Create the new user account
Logon to that account to initialize the newly created profile
Open 'Control Panel'
Select 'System'
Click the 'Advanced tab' **In Vista it's in the upper left**
Click 'Settings' under User Profiles
Select a profile to copy from and choose Copy To
Browse to the profile to copy to (C:\Documents and Settings\'username of the new acct.') **In Vista: C:\Users\'username of the new acct.'**
Depending on the amount of data being copied over it may take awhile;please be patient. Afterward a new profile will be created which is the duplicate of your old user profile. -
Inappropriate? This is not an acceptable solution for this client... What is the time frame "future". Is there no registry hacks that would make this available? Maybe a Login As inthe Service?? any other option short of creating a new user profile?
I’m in disbelief of the solution...

Inappropriate?Hi Ty,
Thank you for posting your question. I apologize for the inconvenience. Our developers have figured out a fix for this, but it requires a code change, so it is being implemented in a new build. The new build is in testing now, but I don't have an exact release date. it should be coming very soon.
The "&" symbol interferes with the the XML needed for the program. Sorry again for the inconvenience. -
Inappropriate?Mike.. I will be more than happy to beta this fix if that is what it takes... but a new profile for this instance will not work...
I’m grinning....
