erroneous Backdoor matches that VIPRE is sending to Quarantine.
I am getting erroneous Backdoor matches that VIPRE is sending to Quarantine.
I have asked the files to be sent to Sunbelt for analysis. The file is
FPQ-20090423220445_Backdoor.Win32.VB.zip
The files it keeps finding are from two programs I constantly use and are absolutely not viruses or spyware or backdoors.
"C:\Program Files\HyperSnap 6\HprSnap6.exe"
c:\program files\activewords\awmonitor.exe
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\Programs\Startup\ActiveWords.lnk
C:\DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS\ALL USERS\START MENU\Programs\Startup\HyperSnap 6.lnk
Hypersnap is a screen capture program and ActiveWords is a macro-type program.
What is particularly bad is that I have asked VIPRE to always allow these files and yet the scanner keeps finding them again and putting back into quarantine. So, it terminates the programs after the scan and I have to manually start them again.
Please fix this ASAP!!
Thanks,
Kerry

Inappropriate?Hello Kerry, Thank you for posting your question.
I tested this on a machine here, and it did find the activewords file as a threat, but not the other program, and after adding it to the always allowed it didn't find it again.
Try and manually add those programs to the always allowed. To do that open Vipre, click on manage, then always allowed. Click add, then entire directory's of those programs.
Please submit a false positive here, http://www.sunbeltsecurity.com/Submit...
So that our developers can look into why its being found.
Please let us know if you have any questions.
Thanks
Peter
