Error: New Software Version?
Error: Software Updates
"Download of a new software version failed due to internet connection problems."
Hi folks,
I'm running VIPRE v3.1.2416 on a PC with Windows XP Pro SP3, and I 'm still getting this Error Message. Is there actually a newer version than 3.1.2416? If so, how do I get it?
If not, why do I keep finding this message? (Right-clicking the tray icon tells me there's an error to view.)
Other than this, VIPRE's running great and I'm quite happy with it!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions...
Neil

Inappropriate?Hello Neil, v3.1.2416 should be the latest version, are you continually getting the prompt to update or was it only once?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Peter,
Thanks for the quick reply!
Even though it seemed like more often, I just checked and it's only been 3 times: 11/10, 11/18, 11/19.
Hope this helps? -
Inappropriate?Try and uninstall Vipre and then reinstall it to make sure that the its installed correctly. Since it should not be saying a new version is available.
Here is the download link for VIpre, http://go.sunbeltsoftware.com/?linkid... -
Inappropriate?Ok, (sigh, mumble, grumble)... I'll Un and Re and see what happens over the next few days/weeks...
Thanks, Peter!
I’m Cautiously Optimistic

Inappropriate?Well [sigh] it happened again last night, same date of uninstall & reinstall.
I'm disappointed and confused by this, how do we figure out what's wrong?
(Since it doesn't seem to be happening to everyone, I'm guessing that it's something unique to my system and/or setup?)
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Check your time and date settings, I have seen it where when that is not set correct it will have issues with checking for new versions.
-
Inappropriate?Hi Peter,
My time and date settings are correct. (The error occurred at 11:10 PM if that's important somehow.) One other thing happened that may or may not be related:
When I right-click on the yellow tray (!) icon to view the error message, a standard "checking for definitions" box comes up first and never goes away until I click "cancel". Only then do I see the History page with the error info listed.
Hope this helps!
