Thank you for posting. If you have active protection enabled VIPRE is going to monitor everything you do while you're on your computer, this includes opening/accessing files and so forth. However, if you have another active monitoring system in conjunction with VIPRE, they can butt heads causeing things to run slower than normal. If you have any other type of active monitoring, try turning it off and see if everything settles down.
