Inappropriate?Hello Bart,
I am sorry for the inconvenience. Please try the settings below.
1. Open The Personal Firewall.
2. Click on the web tab.
3. Click on the site exceptions tab.
4. Type the following format into the field provided.
For example, if the address you can not access is:
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/abcde....
Then enter the site exception *.sunbelt-software.com. The * is meant to represent everything before the .sunbelt-software.com. So if your the address is http://research.sunbelt-software.com/... it will be included. Every thing that is after the .com will be included.
*If this does not work, try disabling the web filtering all together.
1. Click on the web tab.
2. Uncheck the box that says "Enable web filtering".
This does not mean that you will be unprotected by the firewall. It only means that the firewall will no longer filter out the content of the website you are viewing. (i.e. Cookies, pop-ups, embedded advertisements) -
Thanks Stefanie; it appears that IE works better than Firefox which I usually use. However, neither applied changes fully facilitated the problem resolution. -
Inappropriate?Bart,
Let’s try disabling some of the modules in Sunbelt Personal Firewall individually to try and narrow down which one may be the problem.
Disable the “network security”.
That didn’t help? Re-enable it.
Disable “Web Filtering”.
That didn’t help? Re-enable it.
Also, Disable the individual “Intrusions” modules.
Did disabling any of those help?
Let me know if disabling one of these did the trick. -
Stefanie, It finally got it to work by disabling the "intrusions" NIPS.
It appears there are options to change some or all of these in the "advanced" panel. Might I change one or more of those?
This is not a major issue for me, I really like your Vipre and SPF, I finally have speed again and do a "system restore" if necessary. Also, for the first time in years the Registry is clean, consistantly.
Thanks, Bart -

Inappropriate?Hello Bart,
To answer your question, yes you can certainly change the settings for your NIPS. You can set them to medium so it will permit the medium threats but still prevent the high level threats from getting passed the Firewall.
Glad to hear all is well in your registry. :)
Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.
