Inappropriate?Hi John,
Thank you for posting your question. Error 1720 means that a script used during the install isn't able to run.
I wasn't able to locate your ticket to see what our technician sent to you.
Try disabling all other security software installed on the computer. Many anti-virus and firewall products include script blocking.
If you continue to have the problem, contact us back, we will figure it out what is happening for you. -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem. It's not an issue with Windows Script, as I already have XP SP-3 and all available updates; other installations work just fine. Disabling other security apps has no effect.

Inappropriate?Jason, Thank you for posting your problem.
This is usually caused by a problem with a previous installation that has a damaged MSI file, Try and run this cleaner to make sure any previous version are removed, and then try and reinstall Counterspy.

Inappropriate?I tried the removal tool. When I run it I get "Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action Upgrade_DetectExistingProduc script error -214682..."

Inappropriate?Jason,
Since the installation displays the same error, please use the below cleaner to clear out any old installation packages.
MSI Cleaner.

Once you have the utility installed, go to (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up). Scroll through the list and see if you can find Sunbelt or VIPRE , any blank entries, or any entry thats just numbers. If you find any, just select them and hit remove.
