Is Sunbelt Firewall necessary
Currently using a desktop intend to get a laptop as well plus a modem / router with its own firewall.The need for a software firewall is a bit confusing Looking at www.sunbeltsoftware.com/
(1) I note in FAQs note one apt question. Q I have a firewall on my router, do I still need a software firewall. A is basically yes
(2) Looking at the Firewall Users Guide P9, Sec1-5 "Conflicting Software."
Network Firewalls, also protect computers and it is not necessary to run a personal firewall.
The above seem to conflict, comments appreciated

Thank you for contacting technical support.
Many of the routers today come with a few features from any generic firewall to keep out common threats. Having just those few features on the router is not recommended when it comes to protecting your computer. The Personal Firewall is capable of protecting your computer from a range of different threats.
When the Guide was referring to a "Network Firewall," it was referring to a type of Firewall that is configured at a server and trickles down protection to the terminals. I can understand how this was easily misinterpreted. Sorry for the confusion.

Will install Sunbelt Firewall and Vipre on the new laptop and the same on the desktop when Norton AV plus Firewall runs out. Have Counter Spy.
After posting my question I did a Google search and came up with

I'm happy that I was able to clear that information up for you. One suggestion that I do have for you is to be sure to remove Norton AV from your desktop computer before installing Vipre. We recommend that if you're going to use Vipre, that you let it be the only anti-virus software on the computer, this is to avoid conflicts with other programs. Norton has a removal utility which can be found here. http://service1.symantec.com/Support/...
