missing counterspyconsumer.msi file prevents Vipre from installing

I removed CounterSpy over a year ago. I cannot install Vipre (I paid for it) on a Windows 2000 system because the installation halts. It keeps saying Counterspyconsumer.msi is missing. I can't even install an old demo of Counterspy, because a "newer" version is installed. The reality is no version of Counterspy is installed.

    Hello Bruce!

Thanks for posting! I apologize for the issue VIPRE is giving you when you're trying to install. It sounds like there are some old CounterSpy files left on your computer, so let's try running a cleaner then installing VIPRE. The utility below should completely cleanup the CounterSpy installation that was left behind on your PC.

    CounterSpy 3 uninstaller:
    http://www.sunbelt-software.com/suppo...&VClean.exe.

When prompted to save or run the file, choose save and save to a location on your computer (ex. Desktop). Once the download completes, run the file to start the Uninstaller.

Restart your computer, the follow these instructions to reinstall VIPRE.

    1. Click on the following link to install VIPRE: http://go.sunbeltsoftware.com/?linkid...

    2. Your web browser will ask you “Do you want to run or save this file?” Please Click Save. Save this file to the desktop.

    3. A box will appear that asks you where you want save. Look for the save in field and then click on it. Look for the desktop and then click on it. Then click save.

    4. When it is done downloading, you will receive another box that asks “do you if you want to run this file?” Choose yes.

    5. You will receive an internet explorer warning. It says “Do you want to run this software?” Click run.
