need help to register counterspy says cannot connect to internet

When I try to register Counterspy, it tells me that it cannot connect to the internet - but here I am -- on the internet. So I cannot download updates or register my copy. Help!

    Hey Lynne,

    By going through each of the following, you can resolve CounterSpy's issue with connecting to our servers or the internet for updates and registration issues.

    1. First, make sure you are online. If you can connect yourself to a website you can proceed to the next step.

    2. Check to make sure your firewall(s) are disabled. Firewalls can prevent a user from getting CounterSpy updates/registration due to network traffic restrictions on their pc. Here are some of the most common firewalls out:

    Symantec Norton Internet Security Firewall
    McAfee Personal Firewall
    Zone Alarm
    Trend Micro PC-Cillin Internet Security
    Panda Software

    You will need to configure your firewall to allow CounterSpy full internet access (incoming and outgoing).

    3. Currently, you will need to have the minimum version of 6. Older versions may not function properly with CounterSpy and prevent updates.

    4. If you are using a high speed access internet connection, such as DSL or Cable modem, open Internet Explorer and go to Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings -> make sure there is a check in the box for detecting the settings. If there is not, please click into the box. Click on 'OK' and 'OK' again.
