Neither Counterspy v3 or Vipre will install

I am a Man that has an incredible amount of patience--that can be good or bad. It has now been several months that I have not used CounterSpy. The first several weeks of my first problem, I would just shut down counterSpy entirely. If I didn't, I would get BSOD caused by Sbabpifs.sys files which is a CounterSpy file. There was never a solution provided by Sunbelt to fix this for me. Many weeks later, I got disgusted and decided to turn CounterSpy back on thinking that an update may have fixed the problem. Downloading the updates took approx. 40 minutes. After they were complete, I decided to check my email and----------BSOD due to the Sbabpifs.sys file! I once again contacted Sunbelt. This time they told me they couldn't even begin to diagnose the problem as long as I was running the "Old" software Version 2. OLD? I was not even aware that there was a Version 3---and I purchased two licenses for CounterSpy. Sunbelt CounterSpy V3 will NOT install on my system (Windows XP Pro SP/3). I have tried every suggestion given by Tech Support. I have scoured the Internet searching for a solution or new suggestions. So, at this current time, I have not been able to use my PAID CounterSpy program for approx. two+ months. I also tried to install Vipre--no luck there either. I have NO PROBLEMS with my System at all. All MS updates and critical patches install just fine. My AntiVir (free) Anti-Virus updates daily with no problems (and takes just a few seconds to do so). I have Online Armor (free) Firewall and have had no problems at all. I am NOT using NOD32 as others have reported having problems with that and CounterSpy. I just installed Mass Effect and played that for awhile. There is something about my System that CounterSpy doesn't like, and no one has a clue as to what the problem may be. Both my Licenses expire is about three weeks. I have lost money on this counterSpy program and I am getting more and more angry about it---day by day by day---by day. Since Sunbelt can't do a thing, if anyone else has a suggestion---even a very obscure one---no matter how silly it sounds, please let me know. I have done absolutely everything Sunbelt has asked me to do--and nothing has worked. By the way, my system scores at the top 8% in PcPitstop full tests, with no problems reported. Using Secunia PSI, I am 100% up to date with all drivers and software and have no security issues whatsoever according to several different sites I test on. I think that Sunbelt should at least give me two extra months on my Licenses. After they expire in about three weeks, I will never know the cause of the problems---I won't be able to use the programs anymore anyway due to expired Licenses. Maybe that is what Sunbelt is hoping for. Now, on to more Forums to Post about this----------------

    Hello Warpete,

Im sorry for the problems you are having. Lets try a complete uninstall and reinstall of CounterSpy and it should fix the issue by removing the traces of the old CounterSpy.

First, uninstall by using Add/Remove programs, then use the cleaner below.

    MSI cleaner

http://tinyurl.com/42ul9 Save to your desktop and run. The go to Start/All Programs/Windows Install Clean Up. Once in there locate CounterSpy and hit remove. If it is not in the list move on to the next step.

    CSC cleaner

    http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/c... Save and run.

    Restart your computer.

** IMPORTANT** Make sure you have all your other virus/spyware programs turned off before you reinstall.

    CounterSpy V3

http://go.sunbelt-software.com/?linki... Save this to your desktop and run.

Please contact us directly if this does not work for you and we will get some logs so we can get this resolved.

Perry--I've already done that several times (MSi, SCS etc). I did contact you directly and it was YOU that was trying to help me. We exchanged several emails. Your last email was dated August the 27th and you suggested that I try to install Vipre. I replied and told you that Vipre would also NOT install. It's a Holiday weekend so I don't expect you to reply to my email directly to Sunbelt until next week sometime. In addition to the cleaning you suggested, I thoroughtly searched my Registry for anything "Counterspy" or "Sunbelt" related and removed the entries. I also removed all the Sbapifs.sys entries. I then ran SFC /scannow to ensure all my system files were OK. They are all OK. I searched my Registry once more for any traces of any Spyware/Malware etc. programs that have ever lived on my System. I found a few entries for "Threatfire" and removed them. After all this, I rebooted and then I tried to install CounterSpy V3. No go. I tried to install Vipre. No go. It's a Sunday and I am bored so I installed "Assassin's Creed" and played that for awhile. Anyway, Perry--I can see that you are really on top of things for Sunbelt. I certainly can not ask for anything more that that! I will wait to hear from you through our ongoing emails. Peter W.
