Outlook 2007 hiccups with Vipre. (Version 3.1.2416)
I am getting an error message from Outlook 2007 saying it has experienced serious problems with the Vipre add-in and asked if I wanted to disable it. Is the problem with Vipre or Outlook?

Inappropriate?Gary, thank you for contacting Sunbelt Software.
Usually errors like this are caused by conflicting add-ins for Outlook. Please open Outlook. Click on Tools then Trust Center. Click the add-ins tab on the left. Try disabling all add-ins and see if this solves the problem. If it does, enable each add-in one at a time until you can determine which add-in is causing the problem. -
Inappropriate?Nick, The problem seems to have resolved itself. My personal opinion is that Outlook 2007 is somewhat flaky to begin with.

Inappropriate?Gary,
I'm glad to hear that everything has been resolved. If you have any further trouble please let us know. -
Inappropriate? When you disable the add-in or disable the e-mail protection in Vipre the problem goes away. Sunbelt to my knowledge has not been able to resolve this. Sunbelt support had me reinstall Vipre and also Outlook 2007 but this did not resolve the issue.

Inappropriate?Aragorn3,
Which Add-in in Outlook were you disabling to resolve the issue? -
Inappropriate?Well, firstly, I need to modify my previous response slightly. I looked at my old e-mail and discovered that I was not told by Sunbelt to disable the Sunbelt Software Outlook Antivirus Object (Add-in). I was told to disable the iTunes add-in if I had it, which I did not. I do not have iTunes on my laptop.
My problem too occurred with ver 3.1.2416 and it has never gone away even with the latest version. If I disable the Sunbelt Add-in or simply disable the email feature in Vipre, all is well, but then I give up an important protection.
Previously I had submitted e-mail client logs from Outlook 2007, but apparently that revealed nothing.
If I'm willing to wait, when Outlook first opens, it might take up to 5 mins or longer while it shows "loading" when it's really bad, I can then click send/receive and it will work. If I close Outlook and reopen it will give me the message that Outlook failed to open correctly before and do I want to open in Safe Mode? I just click for the normal mode and wait. If memory serves, I think it's when I have clicked Safe Mode that I would get the message from Outlook that the Sunbelt Add-in was causing the problem, but I could be wrong on that. I have, however, been told by the program before that the Sunbelt add-in was causing the problem.
Occasionally, Outlook will open promptly without issue, but that is only 20 percent of the time.
At this juncture, I am really not expecting a solution, and I don't feel like uninstalling Vipre and Outlook 2007 all over again. Removing and reinstalling Vipre is not a big issue, but doing so with Microsoft Office and then updating again is a bit of a pain.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Aragorn3,
Did you have any other COM Add-ins enabled in Outlook? Have you tried disabling all other Add-ins to see if this resolves the problem?
Do you have any other software which would be monitoring email such as another security software or an anti-spam software? -
Inappropriate? We have this issue at our organization too, with 1 PC. Our CEO. It could have been any of our laptop users, but it had to be our CEO - basically our performance as an IT group has been tainted by this issue, the users only know that IT needs to fix it, and has no ready solution.
I have to email her this morning and tell her something, still trying to figure out what that will be.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate? No doubt it is linked to some common Add-in to Outlook. Have you followed the advice already given by Nick H at the top of the thread?
If you find the Add-in, you will need to pemanently keep it disabled or reinstall the program that placed it there and see if that resolves your issue.
