Port assignments in VIPRE when using Outlook with SSL and Pegasus on different servers
I have read some of the earlier VIPRE posts regarding Outlook, SSL protected mails and the port assignments. I am looking for a little clarification. My system uses both Outlook and Pegasus. Outlook servers use SSL and ports are 995 (POP) and 465 (SMTP). Pegasus uses servers with ports of 110 and 25. Outlook hangs if VIPRE has ports 995 and 465 specified. Seems to work with ports 110 and 25 specified. I have read in these prior post that Outlook does not really need the port assignments specified in Outlook and would scan if no ports are specified.
Here's my question - If I specify ports 110 and 25 in VIPRE, am I getting functioning email VIPRE protection on the Outlook servers and the servers used by Pegasus? Is there a log file that will tell me whether VIPRE email protection is function properly with both email clients? Thanks.

Inappropriate?NMcCoy,
It sounds like you may be on the previous version of VIPRE. We have since changed the EmailAV options. What version of VIPRE are you running and is this VIPRE Consumer or the VIPRE Enterprise version? The current version of VIPRE is 3.1.2416.
Regards,

Inappropriate?I have what I assume is the consumer version, 3.1.2416. Since I first wrote, I have started looking at the internet headers for some incoming messages in Outlook. Some seem to report a VIPRE scan like this - X-Vipre-Scanned: 0B8B94350009890B8B9582 - and others do not have a notation like this. Does this mean the email protection is working a least part of the time in Outlook? I'm not sure why it did not pick up the Eicar in the zipped file attachment. Does this help you figure out what may be occurring?
