Inappropriate?Thank you for you post!
I am sorry to hear about the trouble with Vipre.
Please check and make sure your firewall is not blocking it from connecting to the internet.
Please disable your firewall and click on Update Now in the main Overview Tab of Vipre.
Please open Vipre by double clicking the icon in the Tray at the bottom right hand corner of the screen. Go to File>Settings>Updates tab make sure that Allow Automatic Internet Access is Checked.
Also under the Power Tab in settings please make sure the Wake Computer When Connecting for Updates is Checked> Hit Apply and OK
Lets make sure that you do not have any other security programs installed under that may be conflicting with Vipre. Click Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs and remove any other Security Software installed.
Please try and ping our update server Start Menu>Run> Type CMD>Type
"Ping Updates.sunbeltsoftware.com" Without the quotation marks.
Please make sure its returning the ip address 64.128.133.140
If you are not connecting to our server, or if its showing a different IP address then there is something else on the machine that is re-directing traffic, either a threat, or another security program.
If you can not ping our server:
Run this dnsflush script http://www.sunbelt-software.com/suppo...
And please reset your modem and router to clear out those DNS settings as well.
Please let me know if you are still not able to connect.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Sailesh,
Let's check some settings. Please click the Start button then click Control Panel. Go to Network Connections.
Locate the connection you use to connect to the internet and right click it then click Properties. Where it says "This connection uses the following items:" locate "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" and double click it.
The two settings here should normally be set to obtain a server address automatically. Do you have a specific DNS server address entered in here? If so, try changing this setting to "Obtain DNS server address automatically" then hit OK.
Double click "Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)" again to verify that the settings saved. After doing this are you able to update? If not, try doing another DNS flush and let me know if this helps. -
Inappropriate?I too am having problems... i just downloaded windows explorer 8... and i can't update my risk definitions... can you help? I'm not sure how to disable my firewall to check that problem.

Please click the start button>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt. In the Command Prompt window type "ping updates.sunbeltsoftware.com" without quotes and press Enter. It Should say "Reply from" then a number. What is this number? Does it say it received or lost packets? -

Inappropriate?Hello Sailesh,
Now try this, Please go back into safe mode like you did before, and type ipconfig /all and press enter. Find the DNS servers that are listed and let us know what it says they are.

Inappropriate?Vipre is a sick Antivirus. ARGH! i'm having the same problem. I can't even uninstall it. Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs doesn't help. There is no "Remove" button for Vipre. $^&*#^$*$^
