Rootkit Scan Freeze
Rootkit Scan Freezes PC - Possible conflict with device/software
Dell Dimension 2350 with 2 GB memory Windows XP Pro SP3
If I turn off rootkit, then scan works fine and scan also works
fine safe mode. Running ZASS with Anti-virus disabled. Tried
disabling card port on Photosmart 7550 printer, but that didn't
help. Everything else is similiar to what I have at work, where
Vipre is working fine. (Optiplex 320 Windows XP Pro SP3).

Inappropriate?Thank you for posting. I would like to get some logs regarding your installation of VIPRE.
First open VIPRE by double clicking on the VIPRE icon in the System tray (Down by the time on your computer)
Click on the word “Help” then “About”
Next, click on the button labeled “Support tools” then “Run Diagnostics”
Make sure that all the boxes are checked and click “ok”
Once this starts, it will take a couple minutes while the utility gathers information. It will create a file on your desktop called “Sunbelt VIPRE Antivirus + Antispyware Diagnostics.rar”
After that file appears, run the following utility to upload the logs to our server.
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/V...
You will then be asked for your support ticket number, which is 001-00-233010.
Once you have uploaded the logs, please send us an email at support@sunbelt-software.com stating the general description of the problem and reference ticket # 001-00-233010 in the subject line. We will have one of our techs work one-on-one with you to get this resolved.

Inappropriate?I had the same problem...froze every time after 11 sec. on my Dell Laptop running XP...complete freeze requiring hard reboot. (both Quick and Deep Scans).
Tried a custom scan leaving out the registry...it scanned fine.
Then for whatever reason I tried a quick scan...worked fine.
Then I thought what the heck and tried a Deep Scan...not done yet but scanning just fine after 36 min...should be done soon.
I have no idea if this will help anyone else or if Vipre has now been tamed and will continue to work on my computer or if it will misbehave again.
Good luck.

Inappropriate? Thanks for posting. We have a handful of people with this same problem, so it only appears on certain systems or environments. Development is currently looking into this issue and it should be fixed soon. For now you can continue running Quick Scans, or just leave the rootkit scanning feature turned off until we get this resolved.
Regards,
Jason Layman
