SBAMsvc.exe starting at delayed start?
For Windows Vista Ultimate,
When going to Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services
Sunbelt VIPRE Antivirus Service is set to Automatic (delayed start)
Is this by default to improve system performance/boot-up?
I noticed for the newest version 3.1, the boot-up time when loading Counterspy v3 along with another Security Suite is much quicker (1 minute total) versus the original 3-4minutes before when using Counterspy v2.5
I'm assuming it's associated with the fact that it uses less system resources and that it has been set to delayed start to allow all other programs (including other security software) to load up first before it loads up.
Or am I wrong? I noticed if I switched "Sunbelt VIPRE Antivirus Service" to start up Automatic, then my boot-up time increased to 3 minutes again because I could see via task-bar that it was trying to load up first before everything else.

Inappropriate? If Vipre loads first before everything else then the active protection will start monitoring all the windows process's and can cause slowdown as you have seen.

Inappropriate?Thank you again Peterh,
So by default is the program set to run as "Automatic (delayed start)" under the "Services" panel in Windows?
Note: In the Services panel you may select "Automatic", "Automatic (delayed start)", "Manual", "Disable"
There will not be any degradation in "protection" from risks that could potentially load at boot up will there? -
Inappropriate? Its only on windows Vista that its set to delayed by default. In windows XP there is no delayed option.
As far as security goes, if you suspect that something is on the machine and running on startup then you would want to run a scan, or start the computer into safe mode to run a scan.
On a machine that is already clean, there should be minimal risk.
