Scan issue again - "Custon"

So after changing the power settings and reinstalling the software to fix the skipped scans, this morning VIPRE launches a custom scan that was not scheduled and advises that the next scan will be "Custon" and not Custom, or either of the scheduled scans that I have set up.

I like this product, but why is it developing these issues now? The updates seem to be hours behind, even though the computer has a constant connection and set to seek updates every hour. The update times are hours off from the actual time of download (when I have to update them manually, usually). I believe Sunbelt is on the east coast as I am, if not then that would solve the time issues, but the scan problems are my main concern.

I saw another thread on this topic and the support resolution proposed was the same that was given to me earlier - reinstall the software. Will I have to do this twice a month or more?

For the most part this software is better than the big box companies (Symantec, McAfee, etc.) for my uses and I want no part of their resource hogging products. But I also want my malware protection solution to function properly without me having to reinstall the whole system every two weeks.

Consider me frustrated.
