Inappropriate?Hello Lemanis, sorry for the problem your having.
When the scan freezes, what file or folder is it scanning? -
Inappropriate?Hi Peterh - real quick response!
It's the Custom scans - any of the four options: running processes, registry, cookies, drives and folders.
First noticed it when I tried to scan drive G, it's a USB key. I've got 6 or 7 USB keys and I just read they are the way in for the bad guys. -
Inappropriate? Its possible its something on the USB drive, but you would need to run another scan, and during the scan it should show files that are being scanned, when it stops the file listed is what it will stop at.
-
Inappropriate? No. It's not what's on the stick, any one of them it does the same thing. Or scanning a folder on the main drive. Doesn't even get to the point of listing files, it stops right away with the message.

Inappropriate?Lemanis, try and run a scan in safe mode. To boot into safe mode restart the computer and press F8 during startup, and select safe mode from the advanced boot menu.
Once in safe mode start up Vipre and have it run a scan. Let us know if it still stops. -
Inappropriate?Hi again Peterh
Ran the scan in Safe Mode - completed, as it does in normal mode. Thing is, there's no custom scan in Safe mode, so I could only run quick or deep scans. Both work fine anyway, it's only the Custom Scan that's not working. -
Inappropriate?Lemanis, What option is selected for the custom scan that is not selected for the deep scan?
