Slow in loading
Counterspy V3.1 takes a very long time to load during startup. How can I speed it up?

Inappropriate?Thank you for posting.
Do you have any other security programs installed on your computer? The problem could be that Active Protection is trying to load and monitor your system while it's starting up. If you have another program that does the same thing, the two active monitoring systems may be conflicting, so try turning on of those off or turn off VIPREs Active Protection.

I do appreciate your reply, Jason. I do have McAfee Security Suite installed, and it loads very fast. If I deactivated McAfee's active protection, I would be defeating its purpose. I can deactivate Counterspy 3.1's active protection, but if I did so, that software would serve little or no purpose. While I can understand that the two protection systems may conflict with one another, I believe that the active protection functions are the most important aspects of both bundles. -
Inappropriate?Oh sorry for some reason I had VIPRE on the brain, I meant to say CounterSpy, but the case is the same. With the new CounterSpy, the AP is more robust so it seems to conflict more with other active monitoring systems. I dont recommend running two active monitoring components at the same time as it also tends to slow everything down. One should be sufficient enough to protect your system. Go with the one you prefer the most.

Jason,
I have the same problem with Norton. CounterSpy AP is disabled but it does add 5 whole minutes to startup. Any idea how to disable counterspy at startup? -
Inappropriate?Avi,
Unfortunately at the moment there is no option inside the CounterSpy or VIPRE program to disable it from starting up with your computer, but this has been added as a feature request for future versions.
However, there are a couple of alternate ways to disable CounterSpy/VIPRE or other programs from starting with your computer.
How to disable programs from starting up with your computer from "Services.":
1. Click on your "Start" menu then select "Run."
2. Type in "services.msc" then click "Ok."
3. In the window that opens find the service Named "CounterSpy Antispyware," or whatever service of the program you want to disable.
4. Right click on the service name and select "Properties." In here change the "Startup Type" drop down box to "Manual."
Click apply then restart the computer.
How to disable programs from starting up with your computer from "Msconfig."
1. Click on your "Start" menu then select "Run."
2. Type in "msconfig" then click "Ok."
3. Once inside the System Configuration Utility, select the "Startup" tab.
4. Scroll through the list and find "SBAMTray," or the startup process for the program you want to disable, then uncheck the box next to it.
5. Click "Ok" and reboot the computer when prompted.
Now the program should not auto run when you restart your computer..
