Slowdown with SFW
Sunbelt Firewall 4.6.1845 when enabled slows my IP Download from Comcast by over 60% consistently. Most recent was a tested speed of 4,779 kbps while Enabled and 21, 601 when Disabled! I'm using Speedtest.net. How can SPF be advertised as not slowing down my system? I have run the tests over several days - a different times of the day. with similar results.

Inappropriate?Because the firewall does have to monitor the information entering and leaving your computer it will affect your connection. Its possible that its showing more of a slowdown then their really is because its monitoring the connection.
-
Inappropriate?are there settings i could change that would improve speed, i realize there would be a sacrifice of protection.
-
Inappropriate? One thing you can change that might improve performance it open sunbelt personal firewall, go to the overview tab, and then the connections tab.
In here right click on any of the white area, and then uncheck the resolve address, port and protocol. This will only affect this connections display an wont affect the rest of the machine. -
Inappropriate?Wow!
It's like a gave the machine Crack! 28,000+
What's the down side of doing this.
Am I'm I less protected than before?
There were only a few boxes checked. -
Inappropriate? The only downside is if you look in the overview's connections tab you will see less information, but it will not affect any of the other security on the firewall
-
Already tried that, still runs about 1/2 speed. Any other suggesstions.
Thanks, Greg -
Inappropriate?Try and disable the HIPS and NIPS in SPF to see if they are affecting your traffic, to do that open the Firewall, click on the intrusions tab, then uncheck box's next to HIPS and NIPS, then click apply and see if you still have slower speeds?
-
Nope, still slow, 339 ping times with spf on with setting as suggested, 116 with SPF disabled. -
Inappropriate?Try and uncheck the network security and the web filtering with the check box's in there respective tabs.

This appears to sove the problem. After disableing and enableing to test the fix the up and download speeds stay pretty decent, but the ping time change drastically 331 to 108
