Software wants to update but just says "Error reading setup initialization file"
Hi. My Vipre software says a software update is available. When I try to update, I get a dialog box that says "Error reading setup initialization file". Then it doesn't update. What can I do?

Thank you for posting. Sorry to hear that you are having trouble,
{;ease uninstall and reinstall of the program and it will fix the issue.
First, uninstall by using Add/Remove programs, then use the cleaner below.
Restart your computer.
** IMPORTANT** Make sure you have all your other virus/spyware programs turned off before you reinstall.

I tried to follow these instructions - however I am serving in Iraq, and do not have the bandwidth to download a 69mb file - i have tried three times and not been able to download it - which is why I paid EXTRA for the CD to be mailed to me...which was also a waste of money. My original purchase order is # 081015015029707 . I want my money refunded and key disabled as I am VERY unhappy with this product. The order number should show you my email address, and the manner in which I paid for the product.
Please confirm when my money has been refunded.

This worked for me but I can understand the problem for people without a high speed connection. Also I bought a site license since I have four computers in the house (2 on XP/Home and 2 on Vista Home Premium). However the problem only came up on one of the XP machines. How come? -
The error occurs when there is a problem downloading the file. As such it occurs randomly with people who download the update. -
Inappropriate?Same Problem here - and unable to download the new Vipre version that PerryB gave a link to. My purchase order # 081015015029707 . I want my money REFUNDED please...I am VERY Unhappy with this product. I have never had issues with other AV programs like this - and only decided to try it because I run Sunbelt's Personal Firewall. Maybe when Sunbelt releases a product that you don't have to install twice and download huge files just go get what you paid for to work.... amybe then i will try again.

Is there any way to make a backup cd?
I understand that it wouldn't do any good to buy one if the software is updated.

Inappropriate?Since when we release a new version it would not help to have a backup cd.
I would suggest just going to the website and downloading the new version rather then holding onto a old version of the installer.
