SPF blocking Outlook?
SPF seems to be blocking MS Outlook from downloading email from my ISP. If I disable SPF, Outlook works but I cannot find a config setting to allow Outlook to work while SPF is running. Any advice? Ta.!

Inappropriate?Hi Rob,
Check under NETWORK SECURITY/APPLICATIONS and see if Outlook is in that list, then make sure to set Outlook to PERMIT.
If it is not in the list, Please do the following:
1.Open Sunbelt personal Firewall
2. Click Network Security tab
3. Find 'Any other application'
4. Click once on deny under trusted in to change it to ask.
5. Click once on deny under the internet in to change it to ask.
6. Click once on deny under trusted out to change it to ask.
7. Click once on deny under the internet out to change it to ask.
The next time you try Outlook you will get a popup from the firewall. Before you click permit, click create custom rule. This will create a rule that Sunbelt Personal Firewall uses to allow certain programs to access the internet.
If you continue to experience any more problems please feel free to contact our support team at support@sunbelt-software.com or by Phone at 1-877-673-1153 M-F 9am-6pm EST and we will have someone work directly with you. Please reference ticket id 001-00-232152

Inappropriate?I too have this problem but the above answer does not allow me to send mail. I use Outlook 2007 and SPF is blocking sending email. Receiving email comes through fine. I disable the firewall and all is well. I turn it back on and the sending is blocked. I have tried the above and it does not work. I do have Outllok showing in the list and it is all set to permit and the Other is set to ask. I have no ability to send email.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Grady

Inappropriate?Hi dherrick,
Let’s try disabling some of the modules in SPF individually to try and narrow down which one may be causing the problem.
Disable the “network security”.
That didn’t help? Re-enable it.
Disable “Web Filtering”.
That didn’t help? Re-enable it.
Also, Disable the individual “Intrusions” modules.
Did disabling any of those help?
Let me know if disabling one of these did the trick.
If you any further problems please feel free to contact our support team at support@sunbelt-software.com or by Phone at 1-877-673-1153 M-F 9am-6pm EST and we will have someone work directly with you.

Timn,
I have the same problem that dherrick has. It goes away when web filtering is disabled. Does this mean that I have to leave web filtering disabled and not use it any more? -
Inappropriate?Hi barc,
I apologize for the inconveniences. You may not have to leave the web filtering off permanently, but I would need to know the circumstances for your particular situation. If you are using a web based email then you may just need to create a website exception.
1. Open The Personal Firewall.
2. Click on the web tab.
3. Click on the site exceptions tab.
4. Type the following format into the field provided.
For example, if the address you can not access is
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/abcde....
Then enter the site exception *.sunbelt-software.com. The * is meant to represent everything before the .sunbelt-software.com. So if your the address is http://research.sunbelt-software.com/... it will be included. Every thing that is after the .com will be included.
If you any further problems please feel free to contact our support team at support@sunbelt-software.com or by Phone at 1-877-673-1153 M-F 9am-6pm EST and we will have someone work directly with you so we can gather logs and see where the problem is.
Thanks,

This solution improved functionality. I still get the error whne deleting, Howerver my other folders (junk & deleted) are displaying properly. I did not notice they where a problem until after adding the server address they appeared. -
Hi, Tim,
Well, yes. . . You see, I don't know what address Outlook is accessing to synch with Hotmail. I've tried hotmail.com, msn.com, and live.com, but none worked. I have a query in to Hotmail support; we'll have to see how that goes. -
Inappropriate?I believe it is *oe.msn.msnmail.hotmail.com
-
I kind of think Microsoft uses more than one address; this one didn't work, unfortunately. But thanks! -
Inappropriate?Hi Barc,
Thanks for posting, maybe this will help. I found this on the Hotmail support site.
