Sunbelt Firewall
Whenever I have had my firewall stopped and want to start it again I get this box:
I have not set a password and do not allow remote administration:
What am I doing wrong or how can I fix it to avoid this box. I do not know what to write for "hosts" and "password".
Cheers

Inappropriate?Fbj,
This screen would come up if the firewall's service isn't running. When you exit the firewall the service should stop and it should start again when you start the firewall. When you open the firewall again are you going to Start>All Programs>Sunbelt Software>Personal Firewall>Start Firewall?
If you are, the service may not be able to restart for some reason. To check this you can click the Start button then click Run. Type services.msc and click OK. Find Sunbelt Personal Firewall 4 on the list and check to see if it is running. If it's not, try double clicking it and Start the service. Does the firewall come up now? -
Inappropriate?Yes, I am trying through "Start>All Programs>Sunbelt Software>Personal Firewall>Start Firewall?" AND the service Sunbelt Personal Firewall is running (Started). Any other suggestions are welcome :-)

Inappropriate?I finally went to the folder \Sunbelt Software\Personal Firewall and double clicked sbPFLnch.exe - and the FW started - this time without the question about host/password. I guess my problem is solved... Sorry for any convenience.

Inappropriate?Fbj,
That's the same file the Start Firewall shortcut should be running. It's possible that the shortcut is not pointing to the correct file for some reason. -
Inappropriate?Nick H.
Thanks for your reply. It does not make sense to me either. The shortcut in the Start menu is correct and the only difference is the switches "/FW /enable" which of course is not applied when I use "my workaround" (going to the folder and double clicking sbPFLnch.exe). I will have to play around with this a bit more to come up with details that you can use to figure this one out.
I should probably add that I can only reproduce this "situation" when running ComboFix (exiting the FW and disabling VIPRE before running CF). Exiting the FW and starting it again without running CF do not create the same situation.
It is really no big deal - I just did not understand the messages that showed up in the first place (pictures in my original question). If you have a closing procedure for these questions feel free to consider the problem solved.
Best regards,

Inappropriate?Fbj,
Yes, those switches should be there. It should work fine opening the firewall using the .exe itself. I'll take a deeper look into this and see if I can reproduce this with ComboFix. -
Inappropriate?I am having the same problem, and I don't use any other Sunbelt product such as ComboFix or Vipre.
