Sunbelt Personal Firewall doesn't show up in the Programs and Features --> Can't uninstall it.
Short story: Sunbelt Personal Firewall doesn't show up in the Programs and Features --> Can't uninstall it.
Long story: I have Windows Vista Business 32 bit edition. I downloaded the installer file from sunbelt homepage and started the installation. It went fine until it was registering services, then BSOD came, can't remember what it said, and my computer rebooted.
After rebooting, there was a error message saying that sunbelt personal firewall stopped working. I get this error message every time I try to start the firewall service.

Windows security center recognizes the firewall but it just doesn't start.
I was thinking of purchasing this firewall for my 4 computers but now I'm not so sure anymore.
Question: How can I remove the personal firewall when it doesn't show up in the Programs and Features menu ? Or how can I fix this ?

Inappropriate?Spitz, Thank you for posting your question.
You can download a cleaner for Sunbelt personal firewall from here, http://www.sunbelt-software.com/suppo...
After you download it, right click the file and click run as administrator, and it should remove the Sunbelt personal Firewall from your machine.
A BSOD can be caused by a driver conflict, if you go to c:\windows\minidump there should be a number of .dmp files. These get created whenever a BSOD occurs and contain details on what occurred when the computer crashed..
if you can take the 2 or 3 most recent and email them to support@sunbeltsoftware.com we can take a look at them and try and determine what caused the BSOD, and how to resolve it on your system.
Please put the ticket number 285086 in the subject line of your email.
If you have any questions please let us know.
Thanks,
Peter -
Thanks for your reply. I just send email to the support with my minidump-file. Hopefully you can resolve the issues and i can get this firewall working. -
And since I can't edit my previous comment, here's another: I ran that cleaner but it didn't work. Device Manager shows a Sunbelt Software Firewall NDIS IM Filter Miniport and Security Center reports that both windows own firewall and sunbelt personal firewall are on. I ran it twice but no difference.
It did, however, remove some of the network adapters but left this one behind. -
Inappropriate?Spitz, If you uncheck the NDIS IM filter Miniport it should make sure that it does not filter any traffic and should prevent any further BSOD.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Peter -
