System Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation!
When installing CounterSpy I get an error message stating that: The System Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation. I am running a Windows 2000 OS with SP4 installed. I have 1.4GB of free space on the C: drive. I have checked the local security policies with the Group Policy MMC snap in but there is nothing in there to prevent the installation. I am logged onto the computer as the administrator and it is not on a corporate network, it is on a home network. I am running AVG8 as my antivirus tool and its scans have turned up nothing. I have also scanned the computer using Spybot Search & Destroy (latest version) but it also stated the computer was clean.

Inappropriate? This may be caused by a corrupt installer package, an old version of CounterSpy that was not completely removed, or you actually don't have correct permissions.
Usually this can be solved by running the two cleaners below, redownloading and reinstalling CounterSpy.
Follow the steps below:
1. MSI cleaner
http://tinyurl.com/42ul9 Save to your desktop and run. The go to Start/All Programs/Windows Install Clean Up. Once in there locate CounterSpy and hit remove. If it is not in the list move on to the next step.
2. CSC cleaner
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/c... Save and run.
3. Reboot your computer.
4. CounterSpy V2.5
http://go.sunbelt-software.com/?linki... Save this to your desktop and run.
** IMPORTANT** Make sure you have all your other virus/spyware programs turned off before you reinstall.
CounterSpy should now install properly. If you have any further problems, please let us know. 877-673-1153.

Well I tried this with tech support and it didnt work ....... i used windows search to find all files referencing counterspy ......... i deleted them and ran the setup for counterspy from back up disk .......... that did the trick -
Inappropriate?I don't have CounterSpy, but consternation with the "System Administrator has set policies to prevent this installation" on EVERYTHING! Even trying to run an already downloaded msicuu2.exe I get the same message.
I’m Frustrated!

Inappropriate?etal,
You may want to try updating your Windows Installer.
Windows installer 3.1 XP http://tinyurl.com/8dpo2
If that does not work, check out the link below.
