update catch 22
I updated CounterSpy 3.0 to 3.1 (I think) last night. Rebooted. The setup wizard pops up and I'm asked to input Proxy setting which do no apply to me. Whatever I do the wizard responses with "A parameter is incorrect." I advance through the wizard normally otherwise, but evidently the setup is still wrong. I have two icons in my tray, one for updating CounterSpy definitions, but it doesn't seem to be able to access the internet. The second icon tells me the service is not running and if double-clicked, it simply restarts the setup wizard. CounterSpy is dead in the water.

Tim, I am having the same problem. But when I go into add or remove programs and try to uninstall Sunbelt CounterSpy, I get a message, "This action is only valid for products currently installed". After I click okay and the message goes away, Sunbelt CounterSpy disappears from the list. But if I close change or remove programs and reopen it, Sunbelt CounterSpy is back again! Even after I restart my computer, it's still there. Farther up in the add or remove programs, in the C's, there is a listing for CounterSpy next to the CounterSpy logo. Should I remove that too?
Thanks, Roger -
Thanks for answering the problem, but why doesn't the program work correctly from the beginning? And if it is not running correctly, why is there a link to it when I run counterspy? -
Inappropriate?Hi Art and Roger,
Thank you for posting your comments. The situation that you are running into is either caused by the older version not uninstalling correctly or something blocking the versions service from starting correctly. There could be any number of reason for this. It's not really the new program that isn't working correctly.
Roger, I think it may be best for you to contact us here in support directly. It sounds as if you may be having trouble with Windows installer or missing the older MSI file to uninstall the older one. our email address here is support@sunbelt-software.com I'm sure we will be able to get everything working for you.
I apologize for any inconvenience you have run into.
