Updated and now dead.
Finally managed software update. Now wizard runs at every startup and CounterSpy never runs at all. I keep following the wizard and keep receiving an 'incorrect parameter' error when I say, 'no proxy for internet access'. I have now re-installed 3 times, using fresh download and your cleaner program. The wizard's offer to download updates gets nowhere-the download dialogue just sits there, with nothing happening. Effectively this program and my 2 year subscription are dead in the water.

Inappropriate?John, thank you for contacting Sunbelt Software.
The incorrect parameter message is something you would receive if there was a problem upgrading CounterSpy from an older version such as v2. Normally uninstalling through Add/Remove Programs then reinstalling solves the problem. When you uninstalled CounterSpy did you first uninstall through Add/Remove Programs then run the cleaner or did you just run the cleaner? Here are the steps you would want to take to completely remove CounterSpy from your system then install a clean copy:
Please use the instructions below to remove your copy of CounterSpy and install a clean copy of version 3 . Uninstalling CounterSpy is a two part procedure but it's very simple. First do the following.
Uninstall instructions:
1.Click 'start', and click 'control panels.'
2. Double Click on 'Add or Remove Programs.'
(VISTA: Double click 'Programs and features.')
3. Please look for 'Counterspy.'
4. Click 'Change'.
5. You will receive a prompt that asks you 'Remove All Items'. Please choose 'Yes' and click 'next.'
6. Please follow the rest of the prompts until you are able to click 'Finish.'
7. You will be asked to restart your computer, please do so.
Cleaner Instructions:
1. Download and run this file to remove any traces of a possible bad installation: http://www.sunbelt-software.com/suppo...&VClean.exe
(If you’re using Vista you’ll want to download this file then right click on it and click Run As Administrator.)
Reinstall instructions:
1. Click on the following link to install counterspy 3.x http://www.sunbelt-software.com/suppo...
2. Your web browser will ask you “Do you want to run or save this file?” Please Click Save. Save this file to the desktop.
3. A box will appear that asks you where you want save. Look for the save in field and then click on it. Look for the desktop and then click on it. Then click save.
4. When it is done downloading, you will receive another box that asks “do you if you want to run this file?” Choose yes.
5. You will receive an internet explorer warning. It says “Do you want to run this software?” Click run. -
