Version 3 upgrade frustration
I was prompted this morning to upgrade to version 3. I elected to upgrade system rebooted but now my icon on dektop says CounterSpy service is not running and Active Protection disabled. When I click on the icon I get to setup but the first screen talks about proxy servers. I have comcast cable internet connection at home. When you click on help you get nothing. I have to go to work now and not sure how to resolve this. Please advise, Everything was working before on V2.5.

Inappropriate?When you hit next you get Parameter is incorrect, and when you fill in the rest of the screens it does not show version number, does not update definitions or even works after this. -

Inappropriate?If you are receiving the Parameter is incorrect error, that is caused by the old version of CounterSpy still being detected on your computer.
First, uninstall all entries of CounterSpy by using Add/Remove programs, then use the cleaner below.
MSI cleaner
http://tinyurl.com/42ul9 Save to your desktop and run. The go to Start/All Programs/Windows Install Clean Up. Once in there locate CounterSpy and hit remove. If it is not in the list move on to the next step.
CSC cleaner
http://www.sunbelt-software.com/ihs/c... Save and run.
Restart your computer.
** IMPORTANT** Make sure you have all your other virus/spyware programs
turned off before you reinstall.

Inappropriate?Problem with Version 3 upgrade ,currently 2-5-1043. Went to download new definitions last night and was advised software update available. Started to download but gave up after 45 minutes, blue progress bar had long since traveled full extent and modem had also ceased flashing for some time.
So all that was possible was Ctrl - Alt - Delete. Tried above twice.
Tonight - A green tick against most recent software but still 2-5 1043.
Downloaded definitions 866 to 868 OK.
Where to from here? Thanks for any helpful replies.

Inappropriate?It may be best if you manually upgrade yourself to CounterSpy v3 instead of letting the program download and do this for you. Just uninstall CounterSpy 2.5 from your Add/Remove programs list, then install CounterSpy 3 from the link below.
