Vipre and CounterSpy - no icons, no logon, infinite pause at startup
I just installed Vipre on a client's computer. All updates have been applied. Then, I ran a deep scan. Somewhere during the deep scan, the system crashed, and reboot resulted in a blue screen with something to the effect "cannot open vipre db" - then when the system boots into either normal startup or safe mode start up, there are no icons, no wallpaper, nothing - just freeze. Mouse moves, nothing else.
The only way around this is for me to manually move/rename vipre system files so the system cannot load vipre on start-up.
This is not the first system that this has happened. This same behavior lately with CounterSpy on other systems. This makes me want to move away from using Vipre and CounterSpy for my customers.
I'm stuck as to what to do - I cannot spend days figuring this out for a customer who needs their computers back, clean and functioning, with good protection.

This is an issue we haven't seen reported to us previously. Is there any other security software installed on these systems? Do you happen to know what VIPRE or CounterSpy might have detected and quarantined on the system?
